I begrudgingly made it over to our local mall today to pick up somehting my sister wanted and it was the busiest I had ever seen it. Took me 10 minutes to find a spot and then inside people were rushing around with their hands full of bags and such that they probably cant afford

so much for people saving!

I did buy a new 22 rifle on the way there and back to make up for my troubles :D

They're not called people anymore, they are called "consumers".
Enjoy your new rifle!

I don't care how good of guns they make, I would never buy anything with Bill Ruger's name on it.

I used to feel the same way. I have a couple of 10/22s I bought secondhand (one is the new takedown model, unfired when I got it, the other a 1980 production gun).

That asshole Bill Ruger is long gone and the company has an entirely new attitude including making an AR-15 type rifle, offering 30 round Mini-14 mags to the public (gasp!), and even introducing a 25 round mag for the 10/22.

yes indeed!

The 10/22 was the first rifle I ever bought. I worked odd jobs and bought it when I was 12. I still have and shoot it.

More of a reason to buy them in my opinion. Why? Since the Feds are least likely to go after the guns of a perceived gun grabber. The company has made an 180 since Bill Ruger's death in my opinion. I own Rugers more than any other brand. My only complaint is their trigger pulls are a bit heavy on their double action revolvers.

In California the AR-15 and AK-47 is neutered, but you can find the Mini-14 available in basically any place that sells guns, ready to go. I'm debating right now if I buy a Mini-14, or go off the grid and build an AR-15 from scratch with the 80% lower receiver (no FFL/registration required.)

My buddy just bought a Stag AR. After shooting it a few times, I've found that I much prefer the Mini 14.
