I have had an eBay account for 12 years. Back then I use to sell a lot.

Recently I have sold an item for $500. Shipped it. Forgot to use delivery confirmation. Buyer claimed he didnt get it. Ebay refunded him. Ebay never said a word to me. Ebay simply took the funds from my Paypal account. Ebay never replied to me when I asked about it. Absolutely no reply.

Now I just sold 4 items. All won by same person. They decided they didnt want it after all. "Sorry about that". So we cancel. I lost a week of my life waiting to sell this stuff.

I go to leave this person negative feedback and I dont even have the option.

WTF???

I can see they are trying to protect the buyer but they are fucking the sellers in the ass with no vasoline and while wearing cactus skin around their cocks.

Makes no sense. Do they think sellers are endless?

I stopped using them altogether when they changed their policies a couple years ago. I used to do a very nice side business with salvage auto parts, almost all of it through them. I have a car I need to sell, I might use them, but the fees and the bullshit policies, plus paypal arm-twisting make it no longer worth while. F em.

Once you agree to cancel the transaction you can't leave feedback. Generally you can count on 10% off the top between ebay and paypal. Shipping is getting so expensive it's really not worth selling.

I couldn't leave neg FB even before I decided to cancel. It made me try to cancel before leaving the neg FB.

From what I have gathered, a buyer can bid and win then later choose not to buy only costing the seller his time and maybe some listing fees.

I lost a whole week due to this buyer.

On a side note, I have been searching for all auctions this buyer is participating in and have contacted the sellers to notify them that this buyer is a POS.

A few have cancelled his bid and several have thanked me. Most I can tell are newbies and have no idea what I am talking about.

I can tell eBay has destroyed its seller base.

Its left open to newbies and very hard skinned sellers who simply refuse to leave.

LOL...thats my opinion.

The market is truly ripe for a new online auction company to come and take over....

Don't know if this works or ebay allows this, but I've seen some sellers offer their items with a really high shipping price.
Example: 1 ounce gold eagle - Buy it now price $100, Shipping $1,600
I don't think ebay fees apply to shipping. Paypal will still get theirs though.

can you leave some text on your experience when giving FB? I've bought a couple times but not scalping deals. Just buying stuff and usually a few extra things to make the shipping worthwhile. If a seller also has a online shop outside ebay, I'll go that route. I'm a repeat customer if they are good. Some are excellent but my buying experience is limitted. Maybe 60/40 good vs bad.

Let someone use the ebay acc to buy something. They were not happy. Left negative text. Seller not happy. Many emails. I urge a redo on FB. Nope. I don't think they got the idea of ebay. My experience they got about right value for spend. Get what you pay for.

it went to shit about 3 years ago. i used to do 10K a year or more. then they started doing what you said, just siphoning funds out of your account at will. haven't used it for anything but buying stuff since.

Same thing happened with me. All the buyer had to do was claim he didn't get the item. eBay didn't ask any questions.

Use Ebay's classified section, no fees, no BS.

I've only been a buyer on Ebay, not a seller. Between the fees, shipping and the one-sided rights afforded to the buyer at the expense of the seller, I don't think I'd ever be a seller. It would probably work better if every buyer was honest. But in the real wordl, there are always the assholes who see an opportunity to milk the system and take advantage. BTW, I only buy from a seller with a lot of transactions and 99% positive rating. I've always paid the full price within minutes of the auction close. I have a perfect record as a buyer. I've bought two items that turned out to be DOA. In both cases, I calmly contacted the seller and in both cases my money was refunded. IMHO, both of these sellers shipped the items either dead of almost dead. What they were hoping to get away with is beyond me. Both were low volume sellers, and exception to my rule. Hence, I no longer buy from low volume sellers. It seems that Ebay has degenerated into a virtual commercial seller site only. It would be nice for a competitor to come along. But we probably don't appreciated the complexities and difficulties of brokering these private transactions where there are so many people who are either crooked opportunists or downright incompetent (i.e. packaging some vintage turntable in peanuts in a flimsy box and expecting it not to reach the buyer totally destroyed in shipping).

last year i went to a moving sale of a former "eBay Power Couple".

they made a lot of money on eBay in 2005-2006.

said it started going downhill, then took a turn for the worse.

the guy took it on the chin when he sold some collectible to somebody in Florida, $2500 cashier's check was counterfeit. reported it to the FBI, but no recourse in the end.

the wife just plain got tired of the "False Negative" where she would hold up her end of the bargain & still get screwed.

they had some really nice antique silver plate.

sorry to see them move. they were in the "Good Neighbor" category.

i witnessed a similar degradation on Craigslist. when you log on to the CL website and it says "Community" - with a Peace Sign - I Barf.

i used to sell computer stuff on USENET and local bulletin boards, like Berkeley Mac User's Group, in the early/mid-90's.

out of about 500 transactions, i had -
Zero No-Shows.
Zero Low-Balls - nobody ever complained about my prices.
Batting 1000 (literally) on UPS delivery.

And - i did about 150 UPS COD for cash. that requires the buyer, UPS, and USPS to all have their sh.t together.

out of 150 transactions - i got 150 checks in the mail.

then in 2006 i tried selling some computer stuff on Craigslist. No-Shows, low-balls - the tech culture changed a lot.

people were MUCH MUCH nicer in the early-mid '90's. it's not your imagination, that eBay has gone Down the Tubes.

I used to deal with them some selling/buying but switched when they started the pay by PayPal only thing years ago. Looking back for me at least is when they started to get greedy and fall into the shitter.

Even if another site did rise from the ashes Feebay would just buy them out at a whopping premium.

Think of Flakebook and how it is swallowing everybody whole with its endless buckets of cash

The next big thing might be the old Thing: good ole fashion barter via pony express

But at least you wont have a myriad of gubbermint goons up your @$$

i buy manure from a farmer who advertises in this old-fashioned thing called the newspaper.

i'm about due for another 10 cubic yards.

he said it's about 1000 pounds per cubic yard. dude shows up in a big dump-truck.

don't want to be behind the truck when he un-loads.

speaking of backing up the truck :)
