When I say "you" is more than just you but also of your kids......the more that I visit other countries, by way of the WWW, the more that I see the changes from what I saw in person twenty years ago and longer. I can still remember Korea of 1963 that looked very much like a third world country and the onde that you have "today" that looks more modern that what we have in the US and that keeps on growing by leap and bounds.
Where we are regressing, the far east is progressing......China just flew a satellite, which took pictures, two miles away from "flying rock" 450,000 miles away from Earth, that's like shooting a window in NY all the way from CA. China is now getting ready to place a settlement on the moon and planning on going to Mars........and what the hell is the US government doing? they are renting space in civilian space planes to set up a satellite here and there.
Teach your kids a foreign languages and if you are below the age of 25 then you also should learn a foreign language in order to "try" and get the hell out of this dying land .......... in the present there is no future so that now you must create your own future by learning about the past in remembering what we were at one time, we were explorers that were not afraid to go into the wild in order to create a future.
Many will think that I am talking "anti-American" but I am only saying what I see.
PS: We already have foreing troops from the UN, and others, getting ready to clamp down on us.

It is a bit unrelated this, but your post made me think what a failure the space shuttle program was, it could take less into a narrower space, and at a higher cost (probably), it represents 25 lost years, and since then nothing, what a shame, was it a conscious decision? I think so...

I'm a firm believer in a space program. It's a vital component to society in providing wonder, amazement, and hope for the future.
Nasa having to "retire" anything (rather than improve) is just a disgrace imo.

The Chinese space probe got around two miles away from the asteroid Toutatis, officials said. 2.7 miles long and 1.5 miles wide.

I think funding wars, funding Jewish bankers and global dominance was more profitable then the space program.
The advancement of technology through the space program has reached it's limit of usefulness...at least I think so.
What more/better technology could we possibly need? To be able to live longer?
Better surveillance technology? Better ways to destroy people?
Better robots to replace workers? Better video games? What?
Maybe it's just time to go back and start it all over?

The major fault of the United States is that our culture is shaped by government bureaucratic thinking. In the rest of the world, other than in western Europe and the English speaking countries, their government bureaucratic thinking is shaped by their cultures. What keeps empires together is conformity in thinking, and obedience to authority. So, when our American 'authorities' come up with some lame brained scheme for dealing with a problem, the tendency of the lower ranking bureaucrats and the general public is to conform and obey. Anyone who questions the merits of the scheme are marginalized and have their careers put on hold and labeled negatively for their lack of conformity and obedience. This is the core of our American culture. We have no meritocracy here. We have an obedient conformitocracy.
In places like China, Japan, Korea (even North Korea), Iran, and other places that are not Imperial powers, there is more respect for the quality of ideas than for the power backing ideas. They make jokes about stupidity and waste. Once they come up with the best ideas, then they get behind them. Usually, the best ideas are the ones that make the future better than the present. But not in America. Here it's really cool to send our jobs overseas so our corporations can make bigger profits. Our politicians all support it. It's cool in America to use drones to kill people. It's cool in America for the police to kill people for not complying with 'orders'--summary executions. Nobody makes any serious noise about it. Our future here is to suffer the consequences of this conformity and obedience until people recognize that they can no longer accept it passively. There will be an awakening here in America, but not before everyone suffers greatly at the hands of the imperial authorities.

Just imagine if the Chinese were free to leave their country.
Expressing one of the best rights available to you could be the best benefit to the world.
Many, many other places this freedom does not exist.

The silver might have to be temporarily transfered into Gold, but you could still get it out over a couple or more flights, or shipping a car somewhere.
All the TP in the world could not replace one washable handkerchief, just be sure to get a house near the river :)

There's pretty much an entire universe of things to discover. It's all out there waiting to be seen. I'd like to see more technology sent out to observe other potential "class M" planets.
