Youe can't scape me :) ........ power went out about two hours ago, got 6 w =65 v light bulb on, my laptop and my connection to the internet on..............all the needed power till I go to bed... I will then connect my alarm system to my set up.......feels good to have no worries for when there is no real power, still have two more 12 v batteries that I have to connect to the 2 12 v that I am using now.
If the power is still out by tomorrow I'll simply start one of my 1,100 w 2 strokes engine generator to rechage the batteries and if by tomorrow afternoon there is still no powe I'll then start the 5,000 w generators for one hour for the 2 freezers and the frige.
I wold sugget that you test what you have for emergencies........... "To be ready is not"... Ponce
Frikity frack............I forgot, my Toyo heather is not working so that I'll have to clean the top of my stove so that I can have heat, MAN OH MANNNNNNNNNNNNNN crap.

Well, acording to my powe company (I have two old phones that requires no power) it will be 24 hours or longer, emergency shelters has been set up in the big town, Grands Pass, and also in my Micky Mouse town...I'll wait till tomorrow to set up my fire place, too cold, to wet, and to much snow to fool around with it now.....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
PS: You should have at least one old phone like mine that requires no power

In developing nations artificial lighting is a powerful tool for it extends the working ability of people past sundown. However, many of these countries do not have a readily available source of power so they rely on other sources such as kerosene lamps. Possibilities have been proposed such as solar energy or wind up flash lights, but both have significant drawbacks. But recently 2 designers from London have created a possible and cheap solution, employing gravity to create light.
Under the development of Martin Riddiford and Jim Reeves, the gravity light is a cheap LED light source that is powered the descending motion of a weighted object such as a bag of rocks. As the weighted object moves, it cranks a gear inside the device and ‘winds’ up with a D.C. motor to gradually generate electricity. A profound distinction between this idea and the wind-up flashlight is that you only need to push the object up once and the bag will descend for 30 minutes providing families with half an hour of light per rising. Since the source of power requires but only a heavy bag – that can be filled with anything, including rocks, sand, or random junk – a person to lift the bag and the help of gravity to pull it back down, the gravity light can be used during any time of the day during just about any condition. This helps to solve the problem of kerosene lamps, by being incredibly green and cheap. Although kerosene is relatively cheap and safe; because of the closed space of their small homes, the poisonous gas released by burning kerosene (which is refined crude oil) poses several health issues. The gasses contain Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) which can cause eye-infections, cataracts, lung infections & cancer, burns and fire hazards. It can also be a financial burden to sustain the light and is estimated that for poor families, the purchase of kerosene can chop down between 10% and 25%of a family’s weekly finances; money that could be spent towards food and education.
The gravity light is also aimed to be very cheap yet efficient. It does not contain a battery – so whenever you need light, all you have to do is raise the bag – which helps to reduce both the short term costs and long term maintenances. Because of the absence of running costs, it will not leech off of the poor and can give them the fighting chance they need to climb out of poverty. The gravity light can be adjusted for different lighting situations and can even be used to charge other batteries when light isn’t needed. Although currently costing below $10, the light is expected to ‘pay’ for itself within 3 months. Yet, the developers hope to develop another version to be more efficient and cheaper. They hope to bring down mass production costs to just $5.
Currently being funded on a crowd sourcing site, indiegogo; the gravity light has surpassed its production costs of $55,000 and has gone to rise over $210,000; still having 26 days to reach its deadline, the gravity light continues to receive financial support. My gennie is working... just filled it up with new gas and PRI-G. Ran my air compressor on it to verify proper function.
Although, it is unlikely I will be getting snowed in at my current location.
