David Gregory — gun law violator?

The internet is abuzz with the possibility that bigtime gun control advocate David Gregory, the host of NBC’s Meet the Press, may have himself violated strict District of Columbia gun regulations on national television. NBC studios are located in the northwest section of the nation’s capital.

During this morning’s contentious interview (http://www.inquisitr.com/452242/nra-chief-wayne-lapierre-stands-by-crazy-gun-control-position-video/) with the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre (see video below), Gregory waived around a high-capacity ammunition clip as a prop. He probably thought it was very cool and dramatic to do so. Assuming the clip was real rather than a dummy (and that is an assumption at this point), however, Gregory appears to possibly be in violation of DC gun laws according to the blogosphere. The Patriot Perspective (http://thepatriotperspective.wordpress.com/2012/12/23/david-gregory-violates-dc-gun-law-on-national-tv/) website indicates that Gregory’s prop may be a 30-round AR-15 magazine.

For one, DC Code 7-2506.o1 makes it a crime to “possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm.” Large capacity is defined as containing more than 10 rounds.

Law Professor William Jacobson of the Legal Insurrection (http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/12/did-david-gregory-just-violate-d-c-gun-law-by-possessing-a-high-capacity-gun-clip/) blog wrote that he tweeted David Gregory trying to find if the magazine was real or fake and also contacted NBC News. He has received no response as of 5:15 pm Eastern time today.

Regardless of how this shakes out, you can still be in favor of additional gun restrictions and against the NRA and still believe that David Gregory is a pompous grandstander.

Separately, The Weekly Standard (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/gregory-mocks-lapierre-proposing-armed-guards-sends-kids-high-security-school_691057.html) is reporting that despite his criticism of the NRA school proposal, David Gregory’s own kids go to a high-security school with armed guards on the premises:

“The Gregory children go to school with the children of President Barack Obama, according to the Washington Post. That school is the co-ed Quaker school Sidwell Friends.
“According to a scan of the school’s online faculty-staff directory, Sidwell has a security department made up of at least 11 people. Many of those are police officers, who are presumably armed.
“Moreover, with the Obama kids in attendance, there is a secret service presence at the institution, as well.”
Watch David Gregory on the Meet the Press broadcast this morning hold up what many viewers believe could be a high-capacity ammunition clip that may, if real, violate DC law:

If the show is broadcast from Washington DC then this incident should be reported to the BATF IMMEDIATELY !!

Is it also a crime to carry a firearm in a manner that's likely to cause fear?

A White House petition has been started to press charges against David Gregory:

Could get interesting. Pass this along and see where it leads (at least for entertainment value). Being a Lib he will get a pass, but what the hell - why not?

Gregory Mocks LaPierre for Proposing Armed Guards, but Sends Kids to High-Security School.

Snippit:

David Gregory mocked the NRA's Wayne LaPierre for proposing that armed guards be at every school in America. But the NBC host seems to have no problem with armed guards protecting his kids everyday where they attend school in Washington, D.C.

But when it comes to Gregory's own kids, however, they are secured every school day by armed guards.

The Gregory children go to school with the children of President Barack Obama, according to the Washington Post. That school is the co-ed Quaker school Sidwell Friends.

According to a scan of the school's online faculty-staff directory, Sidwell has a security department made up of at least 11 people. Many of those are police officers, who are presumably armed.

Black Blade: "Good for me but not for thee". Gregory's kids are special and yours are not.

LOL

David Gregory is a member of the tribe that doesn't have to follow the rules. (can you guess which one?)

And his children are worth more than all of ours.

That being said, I would like for Washington, DC to demonstrate how "zero tolerance, no-nonsense" their gun policy is, by prosecuting ole David for possessing a scary 30-round magazine in the District, and for waving it around on television, to the terror of the traumatized public!

This guy won't even see a pair of handcuffs, because he is not subject to policy.

If we were talking about LAW, which doesn't seem to exist anymore, then he should be prosecuted, because presumably no one is above the law.
