Need to go VOIP to mobile phones in the Philippines. Used to have yahoo but that has been disconnected and everything else is either too expensive per minute or needs gadgets on both ends (IE magicjack). Even google voice is 15¢ per minute... Has to be a cheap or free way and I am getting frustrated from going in circles, any ideas are GREATLY appreciated. <(^_^)>

If your phone is running android, and you have a magic jack account, you do not need the dongle!

Just find and load the magic jack app called "Talk Free" and you are good to go. Then you have the same deal as using the usb dongle. You just need to be in a WiFi hot spot to use it. I have made calls all over the usa with my nexus and kindle.

But doing overseas in the Philippines that may not help you. They will hit you with charges I think! (?)

Need to call from the US to the phil

This used to work and it still may work.

The magic account is regestered to a local USA number, but you are using the account in the Philippines, so you are using a local number in the states calling someone in the states. That should be free if you load the magic jack app on your android device (phone/tablet) and register it in the states and then take it to the Philippines.

In the video they are talking about the dongle being shipped, but as you do not need a dongle for android devices just the program app and a magic jack account, the same should apply.

But you need to own a magic dongle, the new plus or the old one and a working account.

We need to call the Phil from the US not vice versa. Everything I have read about magic jack won't do that even with dongles and androids.

Any way I wish you luck in your search.

Yup. Actually if you do Skype mobile http://beta.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-mobile/#skype-for-iphone

Contact your provider and see what they can do about an international data plan and let them know you're going to Asia and what can they do for you for the time you're there. It never hurts to call and ask.

Me and the wife are living in the us, she wanted to call the phil for Christmas and that's when we found out yahoo stopped their calling thing, was cheap, like 20 bux and she could talk for many hours.

Same thing with the Skype,

both parties pull an account with a local number, then set it up to forward to the mobile #.

I remember OHL asked for my handle on Skype but I told her she needed to be atleast a Valued Carrot minimum, she never made it...

Is this your tactic to troll OHL back here? In that case I am all for it...
