GLOUCESTER TWP., N.J. - December 28, 2012 (WPVI) -- Three officers were injured after gunfire erupted inside Gloucester Township police headquarters Friday morning.
Medics responded around 5:30 a.m. to the station, which is located on the 1200 block of Chews Landing Road in Gloucester Township, Camden County.
Action News has learned three officers were taken to Cooper University Hospital with injuries.
One male officer is listed in stable condition after having sustained a gunshot wound. He is currently undergoing surgery.
The other two officers, a male and a female, are receiving treatment for bullet graze wounds.
Police tell Action News that the gunman, a prisoner at the station, was shot and killed.
Police have not yet released information as to what happened inside the police station. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office is taking over the investigation.
