Price was in Afghanistan supporting stability operations in Uruzgan Province. He was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit based in Virginia Beach, Va.

US military officials are investigating the apparent suicide of a Navy Seal commander in Afghanistan.

Navy Seal Commander Job W Price, 42, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday from a non-combat-related injury while supporting stability operations in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan.

A US military official said the death “appears to be the result of suicide”. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the death is still being investigated.

“The Naval Special Warfare family is deeply saddened by the loss of our teammate,” said Captain Robert Smith, commander of Naval Special Warfare Group Two, which manages all Virginia-based Navy Seal teams.

“We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and NSW community during this time of grieving.”

Smith added: “As we mourn the loss and honour the memory of our fallen teammate, those he served with will continue to carry out the mission.”.

A US military official confirmed Price was from Virginia Beach, Virginia-based Seal Team 4, which is part of the mission to train Afghan local police to fend off the Taliban in remote parts of Afghanistan.

Price is survived by a wife and a daughter.

Didn't some of these guys write a book? Some guy claiming he shot Osama. I don't think it was that Price guy though.

googling doesn't turn up reviews for the guys book. Plenty of definitive fictional accounts based on privelaged access to people who were involved type books.

So the guys fake name is Owen

The author of the upcoming Bin Laden book has left the military and is using the pseudonym Mark Owen. In a press release from publisher Dutton, Owen describes the book as an effort to "set the record straight about one of the most important missions in US military history".

He said the book is about "the guys" and the sacrifices that the special operations forces make to do the job and is written in the hope that it will inspire young men to become Seals.

Often special operations forces must sign nondisclosure agreements and revealing unauthorised information can constitute a crime. Christine Ball, a spokeswoman for the Penguin imprint Dutton, said the work was vetted by a former special operations attorney provided by the author. "He vetted it for tactical, technical and procedural information as well as information that could be considered classified by compilation and found it to be without risk to national security," Ball said.

I wonder if he is still with us, if he ever existed?

Apparently the guys name is Matt Bissonette. interviewed on 60 minutes. Go to HuffPo for story and interview (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/09/mark-owen-60-minutes-interview_n_1869417.html)

US Navy SEALs punished for 'leaking top secret information to makers of video game Medal of Honour: Warfighter

Seven elite commandos have been punished for allegedly leaking top secret information to the makers of video game Medal of Honour: Warfighter.

The members of the secretive US Navy SEAL Team 6, including one involved in the mission to kill Osama bin Laden, are accused of breaching strict rules by showing the video designers some of their specially-designed combat equipment unique to their unit.
It's also claimed they did not request permission of their command to take part in the project.

The soldiers have been docked pay and have been given a letter of reprimand.

SEALs, both active duty and retired, possess highly sensitive information about tactics and techniques that are central to the success of their secret and often dangerous missions overseas. They are obliged to sign non-disclosure agreements when they enter service and when they leave.
