For $30? ouch!

That was my thought too. I have no idea what those mags ran before the current craze.

Ive tried a lot of plastic mags, and for the range or even comp. they can be nice (weight savings, etc). For that, Tapco's have always worked just as well as the high dollar ones. THey used to go for about $15 a piece, not sure what they are now.

But, overall, I have found nothing works better than the standard surplus steel ones that used to go for about 10-12 each before the recent craze. I still see them someplaces for about 15. They are my number 1 go-to mags, even for the range most of the time. They are as tough as the gun itself and they flat out work.

this is just my own personal observations and opinions on this subject ;)

Far as I know, these were always $30.
They count for 3 parts 922r compliant too, if you need USA parts
US Palm make nice stuff!

Where are you still seeing 30 round steel ComBlock AK mags for "about 15"?? The only ones I've seen available are found at classic firearms for $24 (Polish) when you order 10 or more, $25 each when less than 10.

I'm thinking that in the future the only AK mags available (other than from individuals) will be the Crapco and the US Palm mags.

Here and there at gun shows and private sales (some were selling on gunbroker, some on local listings, like guntrader). They're all starting to go up, but some are out there with $40-50-60 mags, and getting it. Its absurd. Deals can still be had, not everyone jumped on the price gouge bandwagon at the same time, but like i said, even the low guys are creeping up.

Those $15 ones used to be 12, before that they were 8. Theres a shit ton of mags available, which makes this time different. Back in 08, you couldnt hardly find the mags at all, at nearly any price, because everyone was buying and holding. They played the fear back then, too, but not as much as now.

I dont plan on selling anything, regardless of the fact of how many mags I have. I DONT see the feinstein ban going through, but I DO see things like added requirments on 4473's (mental health stuff) being possible as well as mag bans being possible, more so than anything else. If that happens and mags become non-transferable, then the black market price is going to be absolutleyfuckingnuts.

i need mags for a wasr-10 bought during the last assault weapons ban. anyone know where i can score some? regular ak mags won't fit a wasr. i could mill some regular ones, but i'm passing this rifle along to my cousin and don't really want to be bothered with mill work for a weapon i'm getting rid of.

If you dig around the web you might find an easy and permanent solution so regular AK mags would work.

Do you mean a low-cap WASR? One that takes the 10 round, single stack mags? Thats how many are STILL imported. It is extremley easy to set them up for a standard, double stack mag. There are tons of tutorials out there. If you've got a dremel tool and a free 20 minutes, you're set.

922(r) compliance is a consideration in this instance, if anyone is concerned about such a thing.

If you only open the mag well by grinding, you arent removing any import parts, which is what would trigger 922r. Since the low cap mags and high cap mags are also import, neither would fall under 922r either.

Once you start doing things like adding a tapco g2 trigger, for isntance, or a US made gas piston, or mags, is when 922r kicks in and they claim you are "assembling" and you ahve to play the parts game.
