CNN may not be asking comedian Kathy Griffin (http://comedians.about.com/od/comediansal/p/kathygriffin.htm) back to host New Year's Eve in 2010.
Pop culture blog PopEater is reporting (http://www.popeater.com/2010/01/05/kathy-griffin-banned-from-cnn/) that CNN will be dropping Griffin as co-host of the New Year's Eve festivities (alongside anchor Anderson Cooper) after she dropped an f-bomb on this year's live telecast. Additionally, Griffin joked about Cooper "pleasuring himself in the mirror" and doing a "bump of cocaine" -- hardly out of the realm of late-night safe haven, but probably not the image CNN is trying to get across.

I have to ask myself, then, why Kathy Griffin? What was CNN expecting? And am I imagining things, or didn't she do pretty much this exact same thing last year (though I don't think she knew the cameras were rolling that time)? This reminds me of the Artie Lange/Joe Buck Live controversy on HBO a few months back. Don't hire comedians to participate in your shows and then feign outrage when they do exactly the kinds of things you hired them to do.

Since she has a track record with CNN of doing this sort of thing going back a few years apparently this is precisely what the big wigs at CNN want and expect from her. Next year I suspect we'll see some real nudity and/or live lewd acts sans clothing. We should expect no less from Babylon.
