The point is you handle your affairs in private before going into public with them. People who don't do this lose all the time. The matter is decided before going to court (this one) with administrative process of Notice, Fault and Default. Default is judgment. The court provides a record and each case is docketed. There is then a paper trail for when you get hauled into the public venue for a matter that has already been decided. Otherwise a trial de novo (another trial) occurs.
