Not sure what to think about this. It would have to be a pretty good tantrum over the CA action figure. I can already see the resentment towards his parents, and church building into a life long relationship. ;)

I think you're a little on the over serious side given the content.

My little one is 7 and I have taught/teach her to be thankful and gracious for the things she gets , even if she doesn't like it or didn't want it, Christmas isn't about presents anyhow and she knows that, she did a great job though at her Aunt's, at Christmas, she was kinda like a little actress, gushing over some presents she got and thanking them/big hugs too, then on the way home, she told me, " mom I really didn't like this or that (clothes mostly), I told her she did good, because they gave from their heart, It is the thought.... they thought about her and they love her and they gave from their heart.

^ How it should be. I grew up with nothing, and was always happy to see any gift, as they were few, and far between.

Thinking about it, I'd probably side with the parents on this.

Kids today feel way too entitled...seeing chat session logs, pictures, facebook comments etc...of kids getting all pissed because all they got was a $500 Iphone, and nothing else calling their family "cheap", and complaining about all kinds of ridiculous stuff. Way too much of this mentality today imo.

Actually Rotten tomatoes gives it a 50% user review. Looks like a hardcore cult classic.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/yeti-a-love-story/

"A sexually repressed frat boy is kidnapped by a cult and offered up for sacrifice to a homicidal and homosexual Mountain Yeti, only to enter into a passionate inter-species romance with the misunderstood creature after discovering all it ever really wanted was love. Later, when the cultists discover that their sacrifice has unleashed the Yeti's deepest desires, they set out to determined to put a stop to the man-beast romance once and for all."

In it's entirety on Youtube....Merry Christmas, how lucky is that?

Homophobe lines up with the bigotry perspective like cake and icing.

People with zero sense of humor find a lot of things queer.

That's what it is about you. You have a sub par, awkward sense of humor. LOL. I know the type.

What kind of church gives out Captain America action figures anyway?

I can understand, the sentiment of punishing the child for acting spoiled, and returning a gift that he did want, but the letter and the photo published on the Internet, takes it into the realm of cruel and unusual punishments IMO. The loss in itself should be punishment enough, there really is no need to rub it in like that...

Maybe the parents thought that this was the best way to get through to their son.

What kind of a church gives out presents to church members when they could be helping children from the ghetto or 100 other countries?

My mom drags me to her superchurch every Christmas Eve service and the amount of money wasted on extravagant shit sickens me.

Just to give you an idea they had 40 real trees brought into the church for their Christmas display including one that had to be in excess of 20 feet tall. They also have a sleigh/wagon ride that is free to church members and guests. It's crazy. I only hope that the trees/wagon ride are donated but I doubt it. They have several 10 thousand dollar camera's they use to film every service.

Even the name of the church is obnoxious "Christ City"

i can only imagine that this kid must have really outdone himself this time, as this was probably not the first time he complained (and more likely threw a tantrum) about not getting what he wanted. as was said in a previous post, kids nowadays are some of the most cocky and entitled i've ever seen. i guarantee he'll think twice next time.

when i was a kid, i can remember getting scolded for complaining about getting sock and undies for Christmas. as an adult, i wish for them every year - except the socks better be Gold Toe or i'm throwing a bitch fit!

my church gives all the kids a present, regardless of how rich or poor the parents are. sister yvonne gets a kick out of doing it. she raises the money via once a month bake sales after church all year long.

Christmas spirit is about giving. Tis better to give than receive. If this kids parents imparted that wisdom upon him he got a valuable gift.

Yes, they probably thought that, I have on several occasions taken toys away from my children, nowadays if they are acting up they understand that it will have consequences to their personal benefits, and a simple reminder is sufficient. That boy looks like he is 7-8 years old, if the parents had done a decent job until now I can't see any reason for the extra punishment apart from having his PS3 taken from him. I am guessing that the parents haven't done a good job of showing this boy what is acceptable behavior up til now, and I have to conclude that they still don't do that, bringing him through this penalistic, cruel and shaming exercise. They over reacted!

Humliating your child in front of *all* their peers is an irreversible act. Use it with extreme caution.

I would say it's a disaster in any capacity. Other kids won't ultimately understand the moral of it, or really care.

They will just mock, and make fun.....for a long, long, long time.

Maybe the parents could have talked to the boy about trading that action figure for something else. Perhaps find another kid and do a deal? Could be a valuable learning experience on a couple levels. Get something of value from something you think has no value.

These days you have to think outside the box when punishing kids, because of the rights parents have lost. What the parents did was fine until they posted what goes on in their home online. If I pulled a stunt like that at that age, I would've received the belt, which I got often, and deserved.

I never said I agreed with their actions. I just think it is none of my business. With all of the information from the OP, I have no reason to second guess the brat's parents.

They know the little asshole better than I do and it's their call, seeing that they are way more familiar with their kid than we are.

It's not like they locked him in a closet for a month or took a cat of 9 tails to him.

If it takes a public shaming to make it sink into his mind, so be it.

His friends, strangers, and people he has yet to meet in school, will however, and it will go on for months, and months...years even...every time the topic of gaming, games, action figures, or Christmas comes up, it all returns. The damage on the inside will heal a lot slower.

If the parents can't sit the kid down, and make more sense in his life than his peers of the same age....I'd say something is probably wrong with the parents. Kid is only 10 or 11. There's a disconnect somewhere there shouldn't be.

That is the real issue here I think, very few have an issue with the punishment, but wtf publishing it to the rest of the world, it is a family issue, leave it at that...

Christmas is about chopping trees down, and black friday corporate profits.

Why fool a child into thinking otherwise?

Thanksgiving is about giving, then purging the planet with Manifest Destiny after you've received.
