DEVELOPING: At least two people were shot at a high school in Taft, Calif., Thursday morning and the shooter was taken into custody, local reports say.



Kern County Fire Department said one victim refused treatment at the scene and the other was transported to a hospital. The victims' ages were not immediately released.



23ABC news reported that the station received phone calls from people inside the school who were hiding in closest at Taft High School. The station reported that authorities are sweeping the school. The situation is considered stable.
City manager's assistant Debra Elliott says the shooting was reported shortly after 9 a.m. She did not immediately provide further details.



Taft is a city west of Bakersfield.



Reports of the latest shooting comes as the country debates gun control after the deadly shooting inside a Connecticut elementary school last month.

They should double-ban guns in schools, that should fix the problem.

I like the way they said "at least 2" were injured. Do they believe there are more kids that are shot roaming the halls while they bleed out and so far no one can find them? Of those 2, 1 refused treatment - that leads me to believe he was grazed and refuses to go through the drama of an ambulance ride to a hospital where they'll treat him as someone on death's door because a gun was involved - gotta pump those gun violence numbers for the media.

This sounds like barely an event but I'm sure it'll make headlines all over the country so that tools like pacifist piers morgan can cry for more gun control on his lame CNN entertainment show

reading news tidbits from biden's nra gun summit today. what i can gather is that the nra seems to have caved on high cap mags and private sales, at least that's the way i'm reading it. then feinstein, the kenyan or whoever will add in the list of scary guns + items, and it will be a "broad consensus."

cnn had an article up for about 5 minutes that quoted some nra guy as saying "they agreed the gunshow loophole presented a problem." now the article is still there, but that part is gone (it's the main breaking news one on the front of cnn."

edit: some guy on ar-15.com also said he saw this on fox news live.

oh, and if they do close the private sale "loophole," expect to pay the federal government a $200 fee everytime you want to use NICS to sell a single shot .22 to your cousin. i just made up the $200 part. probably will be higher.

Someone with bad chemicals in their head could easily kill nearly 2 dozen (or more) 6-7 y.o. children and half a dozen (or more) adults with a framing hammer or a machete in a gun free school zone before the cops arrived.

My girlfriend used to carry a hammer around in public when she didn't want anyone to mess with her. She said she had no problem being known as the crazy hammer lady. Nobody ever once tried to mess with her, in a city with very high crime rates.
