The news make it sound like the whole county is down with the flu...and that there's still time to get a flu shot.
Do you have it and how bad, or mild is it?

I havent seen anyone get the flu yet here in Colorado

However, many people at work got the flu shot this past week, so I would expect many people to come down with the flu this upcoming week

Several schools in this area have have shut down back in December because of it. No deaths in this area that I am aware of. But from what I have heard is is a nasty one.

The local media is still pumping for people to get the shots and the topic is still one of the top story's.

Unlike most on this board, if I was still having a lot of contact with other people , I probably would get the shot. Years ago I used to have nasty colds/crud several times a year, then I started getting the flue shots (job/company provided) and for some strange reason I stopped being as sick over the year as I used to. Now I do not get out and have contact with people I have not had any colds/crud for the last 5 years or so, with out taking the shots.

Consider getting some Nigella Sativa oil. Stuff ramps up your immune system into overdrive. Benefits off the charts.

I don't think you can be sure it was the flu shot that was responsible for you not getting sick.
Myself, I haven't been sick in over ten years. But I do go through cycles where I have had back to back flu's for a couple years. I personally think getting sick for a couple years builds up my antibodies and I'm good to go for a while again.
I've had couple periods in my life where I didn't even get a cold for 10 years in a row.
I've not had, or will I ever get a flu shot

I totally agree with you!

I just suspect it is the shots, because back in that time frame I did not change up or do anything different except taking the shots. I worked in a small (150 employes shop that 95% or so were woman) company that the employes were coming down with crud/colds almost every week ( Kids in school = germ factory!) And for the first few years we had no insurance nor did they provide the shots. I used to catch what ever the crud/cold of the week along with all the rest of them. Then I started taking the shots and the cycle was broken for me.

Not proof in any sense at all, but good enough for me!

Question: If you have 142.5 women all working together in the same place, do they all have their periods at the same time?
If so, one week a month must have been unbareable. :o

I got the flu yesterday, my left nostril is like the niagara fall, but no high fever yet a bit of a burning sensation on the eyelids though, so maybe not the flu. Definitely viral though, since the discharge is clear as water...I hope it passes soon...

Yes, they synced!

But it was more of a cluster thing, women that worked together at different work stations/clusters scattered across the plant would go on the rag at the same time or dam near it.

But the entire plant at the same time, not so much! It was more like one group or another within the plant spread out over a couple of weeks.

But the funny thing (?) it seemed to me that at the worst times, for the men being a target was sorta centered around the full moon. Kinda a week before, during and the week after.

Guess who caught hell when they would get pissed at their husbands and or boyfriends? ......Yep ...you are probably right!

Learned to grow a very thick skin!

Because it was needed!

I've been sick twice in the last 4 months, which is unheard of for me. I'm thinking the cause is me slacking in my diet and supplements. Working in the industry that I do, I come into close contact with a lot of random people...I also know that people come to work sick (including me - no one else can do my job) because they can't afford not to.

I just muscle through it and keep going - fuck the flu shot.

What does not kill you...
Many many years ago I figured out people didn't care about infecting others with their sickness. Coming to work sicker then a dog was the norm. "Why should I miss getting paid to keep others well", is the attitude.
Once upon a time, it wasn't this way.

I would stay home, been then who would make the beer?

I'd hate to see all the disappointment and tears when I had to tell the people there was no beer.

If 5 people die (because you spread the flu) to keep 100 people hydrated with good beer, it's worth it! :p

Sounds like the brewing gig is going great for you. Have you grown the brewers beard yet?

Neuro, I'm an asshole towards people that deserve it and a damn saint towards people that warrant it. I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but in my biased humble opinion, if everyone was like me the world might be a nicer place to live in.

And for the record the spirit is vodka. ;)

As far as I am concern a flu shot is not only dangeourly but it also will weaken your body resistant for when there is no more flut shot.........I only got one flu shot in my life in 1988.......no more.

Wife came down with it. She's still in bed but will be fine. It's the oddest flu in that it has a respiratory aspect to it which I just never much associate with typical flu. She has no energy and is just plain sore. First time she's been sick like this in a long time.

I'm pretty crazy about hand washing and stuff so I'm hoping I'll be spared.

Neither of us believe in "flu shots" since in our experience, seems it's the people that get them that are more likely to end up with the flu. I know my mother gets them every year like a good sheep and she gets the flu every year. Darndest thing. I've never gotten a flu shot in my life and honestly can't remember having the flue in the last decade.

Local doc on the radio was saying this year is NOT above normal at all, it's a bit earlier than usual (typically ~mid-Feb. is the peak). He said the reason it's getting so much press (hospital tents, etc.) is that hospitals have removed all their 'surge' rooms. So any large intake of patients beyond the normal, they just don't have capacity, regardless of the illness.

Everyone gets a cold or the flue once in a while....to me this is nothing more than a propaganda machine for people to give the phar companies more money.........they even try to make you believe that you have some kind of dicease for which you this a pill or a shot of this or that..............at 72 I am as healthy as anyone could be without none of that crap.

I can't remember the last time I've come down with anything. My diet is too damn good, and I exercise far too often. I was forced to be like this...doctors, and scalpels are my deterrent. No more MRI's for me thanks.

Great way of creating chaos, remove the supply when demand is high. Everyone will scream their lungs out to get more nannystatism. Anyway most people with a flu don't belong in a hospital, being home resting should be enough, but since people have been convinced that flu kills thousands of otherwise relatively healthy individuals, they flock to the hospitals. Anyway I feel better today, just a sniffle, worked, had about 25 patients today, a bit tired now though...
