I believe we'll see a lot more of this. Let there be no doubt, we're going to see more of this, which is good.

BTW, this is what I consider a real man, standing up against tyranny and having a real conviction.

A Jackson County Kentucky Sheriff is telling the Feds that they better not step foot into his jurisdiction. In fact, he is telling the Federal Government that he will not enforce any new gun control laws that he considers unconstitutional, and that they better remember that Sheriffs have more power than the Federal Government.
Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman told reporters that as Sheriff he has a “moral obligation” to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Therefore he will not allow the Feds to take any actions against the citizens within his jurisdiction.
He told Reporters:

“The Sheriff has more power than the Federal People.”
“We are a constitutional office and will uphold the Constitution…. American citizens already have given up too much power over guns… My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold,” Peyman said. “Let them pull that stuff in other places if they want, but not in Jackson County, Kentucky.”

Kentucky Constitution

Section 1 Rights of life, liberty, worship, pursuit of safety and happiness, free speech, acquiring and protecting property, peaceable assembly, redress of grievances, bearing arms. All men are, by nature, free and equal, and have certain inherent and inalienable rights, among which may be reckoned:
First: The right of enjoying and defending their lives and liberties.
Second: The right of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of their consciences.
Third: The right of seeking and pursuing their safety and happiness.
Fourth: The right of freely communicating their thoughts and opinions.
Fifth: The right of acquiring and protecting property.
Sixth: The right of assembling together in a peaceable manner for their common good, and of applying to those invested with the power of government for redress of grievances or other proper purposes, by petition, address or remonstrance.
Seventh: The right to bear arms in defense of themselves and of the State, subject to the power of the General Assembly to enact laws to prevent persons from carrying concealed weapons.
Text as Ratified on: August 3, 1891, and revised September 28, 1891.
History: Not yet amended.

Or my personal favorite:

Kentucky Constitution

Section 2 Absolute and arbitrary power denied. Absolute and arbitrary power over the lives, liberty and property of freemen exists nowhere in a republic, not even in the largest majority.
Text as Ratified on: August 3, 1891, and revised September 28, 1891.
History: Not yet amended.

I'm glad to see at least one Kentucky Sheriff speak out against the federals.

I like the form of that constitution. Clear simple language that conveys the ideals very well, so well that even the simplest of people could grasp it. Maybe it's not simple enough for DC.

Anyway it's all about contract, offer and counter offer. This is a counter offer.

It seems to me that this is the final offer....FU!

I hope he stands his ground after the NRA compromises on a national gun registry instead of an assault weapon ban

Here's a link to the county website in case anyone would like to contact him. He is a perfect example of David vs Goliath and there aren't too many people willing to go up against the beast !

In olde England the sheriff was the king's man, the crowns representative in the administrative subdivision called a 'county'. The debate these days is whether his boss is Obama or the state Governator.

His boss might be considered to be the coroner since that is the only office holder with check power on the sheriff's office.

That's why when Hunter S. Thompson ran for Sheriff, he had a buddy run for coroner.

;D
