It's an op ed piece of the guy speculating why he thinks delivery times are delayed.

LCD recycling is to reclaim indium not silver.

Because the guy couldn't find out how much silver is in LCD panels he thinks it's a lot. He's wrong.

On top of this Apple probably buys it's LCD panels from LG, or Sony.

On top of that again all new screens pretty much use LED technology, not LCD.

hmmm I am still wait and see....

the fact that the mint was only open for 2 weeks after being shutdown for 3 weeks in december is a tell...

and notice the irregularities are only with silver, no issue with gold production...

another tell

According to ZH, Sharp makes their screens.

Apple iPad Supply Chain "Nearly Halted" (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-01-18/apple-ipad-supply-chain-nearly-halted)

And I believe that Samsung has a large portion of their other components. Hence why the lawsuit by Apple against Samsung is a joke, because Samsung will just raise their margins to recoup the costs. (I believe it is Samsung. It's been awhile since I read that specific article.)

The bulk of CRT's/LCD's is traditionally held by LG, and Sony, but just the same, Apple doesn't manufacture the screens, so it would affect more then just Apple if silver shortage was the case. It would affect everybody.

for any who dont like king news...i do mainly for their wildly bullish stance.....something I can relate too
:)

Greyerz also warned of severe shortages in silver: “We are now seeing major shortages of silver. It’s much, much harder to get hold of silver than it is to get gold. As soon as people get silver inventory to sell, it’s gone straightaway.

I agree with John Embry who talked about silver going up hundreds of dollars. Silver will absolutely explode in price. Silver does have a much greater potential than gold, there’s no question about that. As an investment silver will be spectacular.

But the bottom line is we are having real problems getting silver because of these massive shortage. We are now seeing very lengthy delays in getting physical silver. You can still find gold, but silver is simply not around, and we expect the situation to get much worse. We are now to the point where we are going to begin to see a massive breakout in the price of silver.”

i suspect that silver supplies are tight enough that one person with $33 million, buying just 1 million ounces, could possibly push the market over the cliff into a supply shortage like in January 2010, when APMex went out-of-stock on 2/3 of their silver.

BUT - i don't know the exact number. maybe it's 5 million ounces that would have to be bought.

i agree about KWN being sort of an "echo chamber", most of the webcasts present 101 sound & fundamental reasons why Gold and Silver are going Up, Up, Up.

i prefer the more nuanced commenter's, e.g. Rickards, he actually explains why he thinks Gold is going to $15000 an ounce, or whatever the number is. something to do with counting the number of dollars and the number of ounces of silver & dividing, I forget exactly.

HOWEVER, i think there are good tactics for buying, that involve stepping away from the echo chamber. e.g. watching the market for awhile, one could come to the conclusion - "sell a little when the PM is 15-20% above its 200 DMA, buy a lot when the PM price is 10% to 20% below is 200 DMA".

If true, then we should see Ag break out in the next week or two. Inversely, if not true then JPM will have maintained the illusion.

NOTE: Playing devil's advocate...

I wouldn't be shocked if Silver drops below $26 in the next few months. Maybe even below $20. There's a good chance of there being a 2008 crash THIS YEAR, maybe in the March-April time frame. Yeah, very soon.

I would hold cash right now. Just saying.

I think it got more to do with a fall in demand for apple products lately. I guess it is becoming a normal company. It is now cutting back/closing down screen production primarily in its less efficient suppliers... I don't think it has anything to do with silver shortage...

A lot of people I meet want to know what they can do with this iPad thing they bought. I still haven't come up with an answer. Read Cosmopolitan magazine while lounging on the couch is the best I can come up with. hopefully it's a transition device that will morph into something else that turns out useful.

2 things I dislike about them are going to meeting and there are 10 people sitting there all tapping away on their iPads instead of paying attention. People who buy them and then want to use them at work, expecting it will just hook right up and run all their windows programs.

They are good for portable email and maybe calendars but not much else Imo.

Isn't that Norcini's job, to promote a perpetual "buy-it-now!" silver shortage?

I fell for it years ago (thankfully, cuz I can't afford it now)... the massive shortage has yet to materialize.

It’s amazing, these are people that (already) own gold at $300, $400, silver below $10, and they are still adding to their positions at these levels.”

My God, Bob Barker, that was all the way back when there was $2 a gallon gas.

I won a $500 Apple gift card at work, and held on to it for close to a year to see what the prices were doing. Finally got an Ipad about six months ago. The atmosphere in the apple store was like everyone was medicated on something. It was surreal.

Have to admit it was fun learning how to jailbreak it, and download all the hacked apps for free. Now it mostly just sits on the shelf collecting dust. It has a pretty cool app for locating stars, satellites etc... so I bring it up to the cottage for that...but very little else. I'm thinking to maybe mount it in the car at some point for MP3's. I can't believe people are paying full price for these things.
