I believe paleo is far superior to being vegan, however, I think a lot of this philosophy ties into how some people identify with an illness/diagnosis. They accept that fate, and eventually succumb to it. Something that would seem to confirm this is higher cancer survival rates among the more educated.

"John McDougall MD explains how tests you receive during a checkup can destroy your health and well being. Do not have a regular physical exam. Eat plant-based and only see doctors when you're sick. This is from the Healthy Lifestyle Expo weekend conference."

104 Year Old Woman’s Advice: Avoid Doctors (http://healthimpactnews.com/2012/104-year-old-womans-advice-avoid-doctors/)http://healthimpactnews.com/2012/104-year-old-womans-advice-avoid-doctors/

"In an unusual story of Rosario Schielzeth, a woman who turned 104 in June, newspaper reporters wanted to know her secret for a long life. Her answer consisted of just two simple rules that she’s always lived by:

Watching what she eats, and
Staying away from doctors"

Not sure if anyone gleaned this via discussion before, but I am a cancer survivor. My personal experience in getting properly diagnosed was there are as many crackpot useless doctors out there just like there are bad mechanics, lawyers, and plumbers.

Same diff.

What I was originally told was inoperable, and a death sentence, was later diagnosed (different doctor) as 50% chance of survival after 3 years with an extremely invasive cranial procedure with appreciable brain damage. I was told by another I had myasthenia gravis which is where your immune system starts attacking you. Anyhow, rollercoaster rides a plenty, Five doctors later, I found a skull base specialist that could perform the entire procedure endoscopically by going in through the nose. I'm not only still alive, but I'm in the best shape of my life with zero recurrence.

My advice? Don't see a doctor unless you get sick. i.e. present with something/posess symptoms.

Good ones are far, and few between.

Top Ten Reasons to Avoid Your Doctor

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/07/25/ten-reasons-to-avoid-doctors.aspx

By Dr. Mercola
I've long said that the best strategy for achieving health is avoiding a visit to your doctor in the first place. Why? Because in many cases you will simply leave the office with a prescription or two, which will rarely solve your health problem. Most doctor visits result in "solutions" that only suppress your symptoms, often causing other side effects and problems.

Rather than advise patients about the true underlying conditions and real solutions that lead to health, they are left putting toxic Band-Aids on gaping wounds. As shown in the slideshow above, and as I detail in depth below, there are actually many reasons why avoiding your doctor may be in the best interest of your health …

Your Doctor Might Not Even Tell You the Truth
A U.S. telephone survey found that 79 percent of Americans trust their doctor.6 (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/07/25/ten-reasons-to-avoid-doctors.aspx#_edn1)But a recent survey of 1,900 physicians revealed that some are not always open or honest (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/03/12/how-honest-is-your-doctor.aspx) with their patients The results were less than impressive, to put it mildly:

One-third of physicians did not completely agree with disclosing serious medical errors to patients
One-fifth did not completely agree that physicians should never tell a patient something untrue
Amazingly 40% believed that they should hide their financial relationships with drug and device companies to patients
Ten percent said they had told patients something untrue in the previous year

Whatever you do make sure you have adequate health insurance so that when you are died there will be no worries about leaving unpaid murderers. [tongue in cheek .... I have been told my humor requires analysis]

Physical injuries is my main problem and not health issues....... with a BP of 165/114 I avoid BPP like a mouse a cat and at almost 73 (4/2) I am doing great, and if I go then I go..........in this cold weather all my physical injuries turned blue and in many places my skin is peeling like what you get when you have sunburn.

Ponce, make sure you're getting enough water throughout the day. You can do yourself a world of good outside a gym with just pushups, and situps, and going for walks. When you break down your muscles with strength training (i.e. make them sore) it gives you the opportunity to rebuild them with excellent nutrition.

Strength training is really important as we all get older as muscle growth will stimulate testosterone production which is very key. It's like the fountain of youth. Even just 10 pushups, and situps a day...a few minutes of time each day can be a game changer at your age.

Another thing to consider is the balance of acidic to alkaline foods, glycemic index of foods, healthy fats, and the ratio that each meal contains.

The skin peeling sounds like something in your diet is not as good as it could be.

What is your diet like?

The best thing you have going for you is your mind. Having the spirit of an inventor/entrepreneur has served you well. You're getting great exercise there already with reading, and learning, and keeping it sharp.

With small progressive steps, your body will do the same, and that in turn improves your mind yet again, and it all feeds back into itself in a symbiotic relationship. With exercise your mind becomes sharper, and you learn faster.

Start taking some vitamin D3, aka the sun vitamin. (D3 not just D), and fish oil capsules. Good for the brain, and the heart. If anything just those two are top on the list. One of each in the morning, afternoon, and night. Avocados are also great for good fats, and highly alkaline to help balance out acidic foods in the diet, and will go a long way in making the skin, hair etc... well moisturized.

Try to eat more leafy green foods (spinach, green lettuce) as the chlorophyll will oxygenate the body. You want to eat all that energy from the sun. Lots of colors. Grapefruit, oranges, bananas, blueberries, carrots, steamed sweet potatoes, they will make your skin glow. Pectin from apples to offset radiation in the environment.

Try to go organic all the way. Especially apples. A clean organic protein source is another #1 item. Every meal should have some protein with vegetables, low glycemic carbohydrates, and good fats. Eat only high glycemic carbs within 1-2 hours of exercising to help shunt proteins into the muscles for recovery, and growth.

Pinch a bit of skin on the back of your hand. If it goes back down right away you are getting enough water, if it stays pinched for a bit you need more water. Peeing yellow most of the time (instead of pale yellow, or clear) is another sign you're not getting enough water.

Get rid of the microwave for cooking. It has a horrible effect on food. Russia originally banned them due to how harsh they are on the molecular content of foods. Stick with low temperature infra red heat (aka stove top), or use steam to prepare your foods. If you don't like something raw, don't boil it, use steam.

If you want to have excellent balance, and be sure footed with authority, a great exercise is to grab the back of a chair with both hands, and squat down, legs shoulder width apart. Start with sets of 10-15. If you don't get sore from it after a couple days, and out of breath while doing it, do more.

Working your legs like this is a fantastic exercise. It's the king of all exercises. Soon you won't need a chair, then you can hold something heavy in each hand to add more resistance. Working the legs like this is the #1 testosterone producer for the body.

After a few months of this a few times a week you'll be dancing like you're 21 again.

Start small, never go too much all at once, or you will lose interest, and motivation. Just keep thinking about it. Once you begin to see improvements, it will encourage you to continue.

Sorry that's a lot to read, it's a big topic, but that's a good start.

Doctors kill 2,450% more Americans than all gun-related deaths combined

Thursday, January 31, 2013
http://www.naturalnews.com/038889_doctors_guns_statistics.html

"Your doctor is FAR more likely to kill you than an armed criminal
It's true: You are 64 times more likely to be killed by your doctor than by someone else wielding a gun. That's because 19,766 of the total 31,940 gun deaths in the USA (in the year 2011) were suicides. So the actual number of deaths from other people shooting you is only 12,174.

Doctors, comparatively, kill 783,936 people each year, which is 64 times higher than 12,174. Doctors shoot you not with bullets, but with vaccines, chemotherapy and pharmaceuticals... all of which turn out to be FAR more deadly than guns.

This is especially amazing, given that there are just under 700,000 doctors (http://www.naturalnews.com/doctors.html) in America, while there are roughly about 80 million gun owners in America.

How do 700,000 doctors manage to kill 783,936 people each year (that's over one death per doctor), while 80 million gun (http://www.naturalnews.com/gun.html) owners kill only 31,940? Because owning a gun is orders of magnitude safer than "practicing" medicine!"
