Re-posted from another forum:
One of my friends sent me this. It's from a gun dealer that posted this on his FB page earlier today. I don't j=have a link to it but my friend says he thinks it's pretty solid intel. Looks kind of bleak...
Status of gun industry
Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry currently, followed by an INVENTORY
UPDATE: We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here's what we were told.
Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.
RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March
1.Remington-Maxed out!
Armalite: Maxed out.
DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product.
COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's.
LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.
Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.
AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.
MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.
RELOADERS... ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up.
Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted...

I wonder, if 90% of the population suposedly agrees with "reasonable" gun control, is the other 10% REALLY maxing out an entire industry (again). Oh, but this guy says the .gov and LEO's are buying in alarming quanities, too.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

With respect to what? Kindly elaborate.

Its a quote, from Hamlet. It means the government is rotten and putrid. They were trying to sell us that 90% of American BELIEVE AND DEMAND so called "common sense" gun control.
With as much arms and ammunition flying into the hands of both sides, and such extreme sides being bolstered at alarming rates....its all gotta come to a head somewhere, eventually, right?

If you're gonna make an omelet, ya gotta break some eggs.
Commies love omelets. (or maybe it's just breaking the eggs part they love so much)

Who runs these gun companies? I'm not talking trash, but damn who didn't see this demand coming? I would've been running them 24/7 for the past 2 years just to have the inventory, things are selling now so quickly it makes Dec 08 seem like a time of plenty.
Why is Ruger at 75%? They were the ones who shut down so they could catch up on orders.
Why is FNH at 50%? This seems insane.
Regardless of how the laws turn out it will be at least a year before ammo starts to normalize, guns maybe a little sooner. I still no people waiting with wallets out though for specific things to come back on the shelves, so demand has certainly not been met. I know people buying magazines for guns they don't have yet but want in the future. It's crazy times.

Only a complete fool would buy into that "90% of Americans BELIEVE AND DEMAND..." horseshit.
'Background check' shenanigans = Asking permission to take possession of a gun from the very same authority which doesn't want you to have it in the first place. I suppose we're about to see how stupid the American people really are*.
*I cannot believe the number of gunowners I hear saying, "I have no problem with expanding the background checks to cover all transactions since **I** am able to pass any background check (with flying colors)." They just don't get it.

Try to buy a new barrel for your target rifle. Krieger is 8 months backordered. Reloading components, even those for strictly target use, are out out out. Catch as catch can.

I agree with others, people werent paying attention if they didnt see this coming. I didnt get to buy as much as I wanted (most of my spare cash went into the business the last couple years) but I took a good que before and after '08 and made sure to at least get SOME of the things when the getting was good.
All it means for me now is that I cant go shooting as much because it cost too much to replace the ammo. But this is getting down right insane. Shops are selling 5.56 for over 1$ a round AND GETTING in some places.
This WILL blow over, well see likley a 15% higher base price when the pries rebalance, just like after '08.

I recently listed 1,200 rounds of .223 reloads on a local gun classified for $550 - I sold it within hours with others still inquiring about it.

and ya know what? While thats not normally an OMG WOW price, in this market, that is a VERY fair price indeed.
I could make a killing on yugoslavian m67 7.62 ammo. People have been paying through the nose since before the scare, but I just saw a tin of it go for over 2500 on GB a few weeks ago....... I have a modest amount sitting in my gun closet, and could do pretty well with it; I cant seem to let it go ;)

Well, what I meant to say was, that was kinda the going rate/normal price before the scare (.45 cents ish a round). Right now its a smoking deal! It was kind of you to sell it at that price, because you easily could have banked $1200-1500

I was just trying to be fair and not price gouge - they WERE hand reloads* which were ~24 years old. I had no use for them since I don't have a .223 (I did keep enough to load three 30 round mags JIC).
*reloaded by a friend who's one of the most meticulous people I know, he even sealed the primers with nail polish one by one
