Your Fat is Not Your Fault.

Are you eating all the right things—low-fat yogurt, egg-white omelets, whole-grain bread, even tofu—but still can’t lose the weight? Your favorite “diet” foods may be to blame.

In this groundbreaking program, nutrition and fitness expert JJ Virgin reveals the real secret behind weight gain. It’s not calories, carbs or fat grams. It’s food intolerance. A negative reaction to certain foods like dairy or gluten can sabotage your health by triggering inflammation and causing a host of nasty symptoms like bloating, breakouts, headaches, achy joints and—worst of all—stubborn weight gain.

On The Virgin Diet, you’ll eat plenty of anti-inflammatory, healing foods to reclaim your health and reset your metabolism, while avoiding the 7 foods that are most likely to cause food intolerance. You’ll never feel hungry or deprived, and in just one week, you’ll drop up to 7 pounds, lose belly bloat, gain energy, clear up inflammation and look and feel years younger. And that’s just the beginning!

Anyway, I've been loosely following the plan, not so much to lose weight as to figure out my bloating/stomach aches... & I think eggs may be a FI food for me! (Food Intolerance). I already have lactose/milk intolerance but I was surprised to discover it might be eggs. Heard about her plan, watched a webinar prior to the book being released, etc. Since the egg incident, got the book & will follow her suggestions more closely.

My husband stopped sugar for several days, ate sugar & ice cream & noticed a return of achy joints the next day. So he's on board too.

Just curious if any others have heard about it, tried it, etc.

It's an elimination diet, so to start you need to drop these 7 high FI foods:

Gluten
Soy
Dairy
Eggs
Corn
Peanuts
Sugar & Artifical Sweeteners

I dropped most of those, actually all of them except eggs, following the primal diet for about a year. I've since added half of them back. Inflammation is indeed an issue, with aging bodies anyway. Whether or not these particular foods are linked to it, personally I'd like to see the studies. One thing I've seen demonstrated is the link between fat and carbs. Of the great debate, what causes fat on humans carbs or fat? it's carbs.

I have had to cut a lot of foods out of my diet too. Before, I had some really achey joints, but now that I have been detoxing for over a year, my joints feel much better. I have reactions to several foods. I am constantly having to go thru the process of finding out what "set" me off this time. Like , a few months ago, I dried up my goats in preparation for her new babies. I bought raw goats milk and raw cows milk from the store, Anyway, both the milks made me have reactions, which is weird because I drink my home grown goats milk with out a problem. With several trial and errors and many upset bellys, I come to realize that it had an effect on me because they fed the cows and goats grain. I dont feed my goats grain. I can eat home grown organic carrots, but not store bought organic carrots. I live on eggs. On a average day I eat 3 eggs for breakfast ( having to poach them now because I have reactions to the cow butter and just got reactions to coconut oil- life sucks) 1 in my lunch salad, sometimes one for snack and 2 or 3 before bed.

The inflammation thing sound about right. Since I have cut out 90% of the foods I use to eat, my belly does not get bloated anymore.
I went to the dentist to see about getting the mercury removed from my mouth and he said he sees "my situation" in several patients because the mercury is screwing up the protein in the blood cells. Thus causing IBS or other digestive problems. He said I was hyper sensitive and if I let it go on, eventually, I would become allergic to everything. He is sending me to an Osteopath so he can find out which teeth has the positive and which have the negative charges. If you remove the positive charged teeth first, it can send you in a downward spiral and you can have years of ill health.

So what kind of anti inflammatory foods are you eating?

Dairy is okay if it's raw. I used to always get acid reflux/vomit when I drank milk. I was allergic to it.

Then I tried raw milk. No reaction.

Pasteurized milk is bad since it kills off all the living enzymes which are in milk to help you digest lactose. So if you're "lactose intolerant" you CAN drink raw milk.

Ima and MN , I think this is the reason why I can eat ALOT ( hell, I ate sourdough at least 3 times a day lately) 2 pieces , 2 or 3 times a day, buttered and toasted with eggs) just hogging it up)

HAHHA no added sugar in sourdough! In fact the sour dough eats up all the sugar!

I can eat eggs at all. Cause me intense pain. Even small amounts that have touched other food I eat can cause me problems for most of the day. I like noodles but have to be careful what type I consume. The thick egg noodles are very painful to eat. I might have to look at this sour dough. I realised that fat in my diet, good whole fats that is, are not causing me any increase in body weight or mass even though I have increased my consumption of these over the last 18months. I have in fact lost a lot of excess body fat. Still carrying a small amount which is coming from the remaining carbs I am eating in bread and cereal. These two things I am having trouble elininating from the diet because I need something to replace it with. I did move to having 2 cooked breakfasts a week.
