Meteorite crash in Russia: UFO fears spark panic in the Urals (VIDEO, PHOTOS)
A series of explosions in the skies of Russia’s Urals region, reportedly caused by a meteor shower, has sparked panic in three major cities. Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working.
Atmospheric phenomena have been registered in the cities of Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen.
Lifenews tabloid reported that at least one piece of the fallen object caused damage on the ground in Chelyabinsk. According to preliminary reports, it crashed into a wall near a zinc factory, disrupting the fiber-optic connections of internet providers and mobile operators.
Witnesses said the explosion was so loud that it resembled an earthquake and thunder at the same time, and that there were huge trails of smoke across the sky. Others reported seeing burning objects fall to earth.

Hi. I am from Chelyabinsk. I saw the meteor show with my own eyes. There are smashed windows all over the city. One of the manufactory buildings of the Zinc Plant is destroyed. Its roof and half of the building is just gone.

BREAKING NEWS >> Urals meteorite shot down by Russian air defense - military source

According to unconfirmed reports, the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. A missile salvo reportedly blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers.
My jaw is dropping guys. You all know that I believe a lot of crazy stuff, but I'm having a hard time with this one.
The Emergency Ministry reported that 20,000 rescue workers are operating in the region.

It is believed that the incident may be connected to asteroid 2012 DA14, which measures 45 to 95 meters in diameter and will be passing by Earth tonight at around 19:25 GMT at the record close range of 27,000 kilometers.
This explains it......I think I definitely felt this one...
edit: actually, I think the asteroid is happening tomorrow. It would be interesting to know what time these impacts happened today though.

There aren't supposed to be any known meteor showers until April. Makes you wonder what is flinging all these rocks at us?

All kidding aside, there is a chance that the meteor is possibly related to the asteroid flyby today.
The space brains in the know probably need time to see if the trajectory of the meteor is related to the orbit of the asteroid.
If they are not related then it is one hell of a coincidence of timing.

According to some links I read the meteor was moving 19 MILES per SECOND (from DRUDGE).
I highly doubt the "air defense" systems could track an object moving that fast for purposes of shooting it down with a missle. Also, good luck intercepting it with a missle moving Mach 12 (9,134 MPH or 2.5 Miles per Second) (Missle data from this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-400_(SAM)) Assuming they had their top-of-the-line missles there and in range. If not, you're looking at much slower speeds.
I'm not buying that they hit it with a missle.

I don't buy this Dog: why would Klendathu choose such a remote location as Central Russia to start their attack? But, it might be the work of the Romulans.

I have suspected the possibility that this assteroid could drag some rocks with it. But that is not possible because I saw an educated black man on the morning news assure everyone that this had nothing to do with said assteroid. It was just a coincidence, so don't mind it.
I expect a hemorrhoid load more of these.

We have no way of knowing if this was an assteroid Spec. Assteroids are a very specific type of asteroid, quite rare and never photographed. Here is an artist's rendition of an assteroid. Pretty frickin' scary!

That assteroid could give some people a global warming hemorrhoid. That could expose the millions of degrees heat inside the earth by opening a new sphincter. If you look closely, there even appears to be a face on that assteroid. It is just an optical delusion I am sure.

Almost 1000 people injured, most are minor. 110 are hospitalized, 2 in critical condition.
3000 buildings have been damaged.
Does anyone know what time this occurred? I can't find sources saying what the time was.

I believe DA14 is coming in from the south pole. So these meteorite impacts in the northern hemisphere are unlikely related to it.

Got my fingers crossed for a 100,000 asteroid bombardment to take out all satellites.
Hopefully destroy digital currencies and go back to better times.
