I read about 20 - 25% of the pdf, but then it started repeating itself so I just skimmed the rest. There was some interesting info in it, but in the end it seems to go back to this guy selling 8 hour conference call healings for $150.

It's a good metaphor for everything - there's usually some truth to discover, but it's never the whole truth. It doesn't mean you should disregard everything, but one must always be skeptical. In this case it's easy to see. But most people get stuck in the same type of thing but which isn't as easy to see.
