Virginia Father Shoots and Kills Two Men Who Break Into His Home (VIDEO) 2/21/13 (http://www.guns.com/2013/02/21/a-young-father-kills-two-men-who-broke-into-his-home/) | by David Higginbotham (http://www.guns.com/author/davehigg/)
A 25-year-old father opened fire on three armed intruders, who kicked open his door in the middle of the night Sunday, killing two in the process. Now he, his son, girlfriend and mother have relocated out of fear the third man will come back.

The incident happened around 3:30 in the morning when the trio kicked in the front door. The young father told the local CBS affiliate (http://wtvr.com/2013/02/18/prince-edward-county-home-invasion-shooting/) that “it sounded like a car running into the side of the house.” The crash woke him and his two-year old son, who was sleeping next to him, up. The father then grabbed his gun, which was located nearby, and when he saw the armed intruders, opened fire.
One suspect fell dead inside the house while the other collapsed in the front lawn. The third suspect fled on foot as the father dialed 911.
The Prince Edward County Sheriff’s deputies that responded to the 911 call used dogs to search for the third suspect, the Richmond Times Dispatch (http://www.timesdispatch.com/news/local/crime/two-dead-after-prince-edward-home-invasion/article_319163a1-866e-5762-8567-bd890a38cb12.html) reports, and were able to track the suspect to a highway, where they believe he fled in a vehicle.
The two men killed by the homeowner are still being identified, and the third man has yet to be found.
Neither the father, nor his son were injured.
“The way it looks he was defending himself,” Prince Edwards County Sheriff Wesley Reed (http://www.co.prince-edward.va.us/sheriff_index.shtml) said to the local NBC affiliate (http://www.nbc12.com/video?clipid=8418646&autoStart=true). He added, “We’re telling people in Prince Edward County to just be aware of your surroundings and tak all the extra precautions that you can until we catch this suspect.”

You know when they do not describe the criminals, they're black. If they were white the article would have said so.

Universal background checks would have stopped this. /sarc

These are the type of incidents the anti-gunners loathe.

Pretty hard to spin this. Will never get any national attention.

I'm hoping it was an AK or AR that he shot them with.

Since the article didn't say what type of gun he defended himself with, it very well may have been an AK or AR.

Also, the armed intruders guns weren't described. They probably were not AKs or ARs. The media would be all over it if they were.

From the picture of the home - it looks like he lived in a fairly rural area

A Virginia man was home with his 2-year-old son with three intruders forced their way into his home. He shot and killed two of them and the third intruder managed to escape.

from NBC 12:

Prince Edward sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly home invasion that happened early Sunday morning in Prospect. Two of the three suspects are dead, shot by the homeowner in self defense, according to investigators on scene. Meanwhile, the search continues for the third suspect.
This situation began unfolding at about 4:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of Prince Edward Highway, or Route 460. Investigators told NBC12’s Kelly Avellino three unknown men forced their way in the front door of the home, where a man was alone with a 2-year-old child.
According to a press release issued by Sheriff Wesley W. Reed, that man called 911 to report a home invasion and said the suspects were armed. Reed also said gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and the caller.
Authorities said two suspects were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third managed to escape on foot.
We’re told the homeowner and the child were not harmed.

Owning a gun may have very well saved the lives of this man and his young son. Liberals claim that gun control is all about saving the lives of children. ”If it saves just one young life…” they say.
Gun control may very well have ended this 2-year-old’s life had it been in place. We can be thankful his father was able to fight back.

I wonder if this man will be hauled into court for a civil suit... Damn ridiculous, that they can break into his home and then the family members of the dead can sue him.

To be judged by 12 is to go to court and to be judged by a 12 man jury, which all court trials have. To be carried by 6 is to be dead .... Cuz I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6
