I know you mean well. But this is why we have "professional" welfare mothers, women who have babies to boost their income. You need to read my post better Mamboni. Right after the part you quoted in red, I stated that "Said assistance can be provided by concerned citizens" that is voluntary donations to those we know personally are in need. I went on further to state "The government has no place feeding the populace except in emergencies. Everyone can and should work." My notion of an 'emergency' being a general famine or such. Note that the strategic food supplies that our government was once mandated to hold in case of famine have been depleted with no plan to regenerate.

You need that for it to work. Then people will use social programs when they need it not as a life style choice. If I had to bust my ass to feed a baby you think I'd be dropping loads in shaniqua? Great post. The only way to save us at this point is for people, as individuals, to have some honor, pride, and responsibility. There is nothing strong about being on food stamps. To not be able to put food on your table for your family is being weak. People need to understand this. People need to eat, but should be damn embarrassed about being on food stamps. Granted, there's some folks who truly do need them. My heart goes out to them. But to the guy who has 8 kids, with 5 different women, and no job...sorry pal. Get a job. One other thing, these folks are all wearing very nice clothes too. The only thing missing is the BMW in the background. Does giving people handouts make them less likely to work? That seems to be the issue being debated here. You might want to ask if there have been any scientific studies or experiments that confirm or deny this proposition. It seems that there was one study done in Canada during the 1970s that looked at just this issue. It wasn't food stamps, but a minimum income--a social safety net. The only people who took it as an opportunity to work less were pregnant women, mothers with babies, and teenagers.

In this country, I consider Food stamps to be an insurance policy against social and political upheaval. It is a balm for mismanagement of the economy that results in high unemployment. It's not as visible as people standing in bread lines.

If they changed the text in that poster to "Food Stamps make an Inept and Corrupt American Government Stronger" I would agree with it. Otherwise, a safety net for the plebs is the 'panem' in 'Panem et Circensis'. Food stamps and football games pacify Americans.

To tell yaw'll the truth I'm about/AM sick of all this shit! The way things have gone I'm like F it! I've always busted my kazoo to be self reliant and to never be a taker from the .gov but where has it got me? For years I've seen the EBT cards/food stamps used at the market and they were eating way better than I could ever afford and I'm there buying baloney and cheap shit after having worked for X hours and they have a cart full on my damn dime. Enough! I'm so damn disgusted with it all I think my new job in this circumstance is to see what I can get from the system as an old white dude. I'm talking everything, food stamps, money, housing allowance, medical, dental etc..the whole monty!
