TEOTWAWKI is a BS Scenario Made-Up to Sell You Crap

TEOTWAWKI = The End of the World as We Know It

The belief that some sort of ‘game changing’ event will turn the US and the rest of the 1st world into some sort of Mad Max country where people barter for food and water has been around since I first got into survivalism when I was a kid in the 80’s.

And it still seems to be a widely referred to scenario even to this day, probably even more so now due to the internet. When reading some blogs and forums you see TEOTWAWKI mentioned as one of the reasons why someone does something that inevitably ends up in some sort of purchase.

I have come to the conclusion that TEOTWAWKI is exactly like Halloween, they are both something invented by businesses, writers and corporations to convince people to part with money.

But unlike Halloween (something that will happen every year with 100% certainty) TEOTWAWKI will never happen in the US, especially to the post-apocalyptic level some people preach or believe.

for sure it's taken advantage of.

one look at Alex Jones website is all it takes to make the point. even before i learned about his "gate-keeper" nature, i avoided InfoWhores because it was a butt-ugly website full of prepper ads.

sort of like Matt whats-his-name @ LATOC, "the world is ending, buy my stuff".

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that prepping is a bad idea. To the Contrary. i just don't like to pay retail, and a lot of these prepper stores charge twice retail.

i'd rather eat bugs, and worms, taking into account that earthworms can have parasite eggs inside them, so it's a good idea to boil them, cruel as it may be.

I do agree with this to an extent since after doing some of it myself, I've looked back and think I've just been retarded. Especially buying into the whole Gold/Silver to the moon scam invented by the precious metals retailers. A lot of this stuff is useless too if you don't even know how to use it in the first place. Maybe when Silver drops to $14-17 in the next year or so people will get disillusioned and go back to watching TeeVee.

Skills and knowledge are better to have than most preps. The most important prep is your physical health. Make sure you eat good foods, abstain from eating bad foods, and supplement accordingly. If you're eating right you should be off all medications.

i agree, especially about the health. depending on your age, you can take one look and see how you're doing in that department.

stress is the 'Silent Killer'. i think managing stress, living relaxed in a world that would love to throw you off kilter and suck you dry with debt, that is the big Kahuna or whatever.

i look at a lot of the Prep stuff as "Pre-emptive stress management". you are making sure that you have what you need, so that if there is an earthquake, or the trucks stop bringing food to the store, you can thrive, or at least cope - when a lot of people will be freaking and/or rioting.

It's far better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it.

If you spend too much time, energy, and attention prepping for external threats, you may miss the ones that are already inside the gates.

Trust me, I know...
