What part of 'concealed' carry did that idiot not understand? What a fool. He deserves whatever punishment he gets. Make sure no one can see your gun when you carry. That is the point.

I agree.....but other news feeds said they only saw it when he was reaching in his breast coat pocket.... but a known fater of a student there.... what ever happened to a friendly "heads up" for Christ sake. Everyone's gotta call the Po Po first chance they get.

Does the school go into lockdown mode every time a cop enters the premises? The conditioning is nauseating! Uniformed man with gun = good, non-uniformed man with gun = bad.

But the father should have known better. Situational awareness and all. If you presume to carry in a gun-free zone, make for damn certain NOBODY will see your piece.

He does have a permit to carry the gun, but with or without the permit, it is illegal to bring a gun to a school, according to Rensselaer Police.

It's funny, I drove by there yesterday and there was a marked car parked in the fire lane in front of the school... and yep, officer coming out of the doors.

I'm sure this guy can kiss his CCW goodbye. Not an easy thing to obtain in this shit hole state.

A lot of things are illegal, but damn, sometimes the courtesy of a reminder might be in order. Had it been me I would have asked if he had a permit, and then I would have advised him that he best be on his way before some nanny state do nothing decides to send the whole area into a lockdown because they saw a spooooooooky handgun.

I can throw a rock and hit the high school stadium here. They have road signs posted at the begenning of the school zones and also at all school driveways. They basically say that all guns (except, donuts/cops/Le's/gestapo) are forbidden on the school property. They do come down hard on the ones that do carry.

The guy in the op should not have carried onto the school grounds, not sure about his state but that is a very big no,no here.

at one time we carry are hunting guns in the back window of our trucks to school / look were we are now I can still do that here, gun racks are good to go. But not very wise if you park in some areas, you will find the windows broken out and the guns gone.

I still have my gun rack in my truck, and still use it.

Edit: But when parked at home and not planning to go anywhere, the guns come out and into the house.

My dad tells me stories like this. When he was a kid he and my uncle walked a couple miles on a dirt road to school, and they would take their .22 rifles with them to shoot squirrels and rabbits on the way home from school.

'Illegal'? What does that even mean?

-It was 'illegal' to sneak slaves out of the plantation using the underground railroad. BUT PEOPLE STILL DID IT, because it was the Right thing to do.
-It was 'illegal' for heretics to question the Church and its evil actions. BUT PEOPLE STILL DID IT, because it was the Right thing to do.
-It was 'illegal' to grow your own food and eat it in the Soviet Union under Stalin. BUT PEOPLE STILL DID IT, because it was the Right thing to do.
-It was 'illegal' to worship Christianity under the Roman Empire. BUT PEOPLE STILL DID IT, because it was the Right thing to do.

I could go on for hours. But i think i have made my point.

"When Evil is 'Legal' - Become a CRIMINAL. When oppression is enacted as 'Law' - Become a Law breaker. When those violently victimizing the innocent have badges - Become a Cop killer".

Yep, used to come fully armed to high school back in the 70's with guns in the rear window rack of the truck even in Canada. Never did have any shootouts either....
