What a great concept! The way the medical industry should work.
No more surgery mill to pump out as many patients just to make his nut.

Once Obamacare is instituted, won't it be illegal for anyone to practice medicine in this country outside the insurance system?

Exactly. I'm sure this breaks some law somewhere. And if not, it's just a matter of time until one special interest group or another lobbies for such a law.

If he gets 1/100th of what a hospital charges he is getting 50x what his cut would be working for them. By time they make it illegal he will have more money than he could throw off the yacht every day for a lifetime.

How much does a plane ticket to the Philippines cost? Couldn't you consider that your "deductible" and go there for expensive medical procedures? (assuming you can make it through the plane ride there)

I went to India in 2010, and had my BHR (Birmingham Hip Resurfacing) hip prosthesis surgery, with one of the worlds 5 most experienced surgeons in this field. 5 days stay in a luxurious hospital room, the BHR prosthesis, The surgeons fees, and all other expenses (medications, food, x-rays) all included came to $7,800. All in all with return flights Stockholm for me and my wife, more than a weeks accommodation in nice Hotels, and 40 lbs of Indian handicrafts shopping, taxis, food, during our 2 week stay came to less than $15,000. And the hip works fabulously, can go skiing, running, bowling, whatever I want now, and it will most likely continue doing so for the rest of my life without any problems. The failure rates over 15 years is only a couple of percents. Many Americans have gone and had this surgery, the doctor/hospital even had a piece on CBS 60 minutes. The doctors name is Vijay Bose, if anyone here or someone you know need a new hip joint, without any bullshit hoops to jump through....

As this country turns more and more into an open air concentration camp, they will enact laws preventing people from going abroad for health care.
