I took a walk through the random photo thread. Seems like half the pics are gone. Is it because of the way they were loaded by link only? Perhaps we all need to be loading the full pics, and not just links.

Think most of that happened when the forum switched software and went to vbulleten. Lot's of picts and stuff did not make the move.

Most likely links. I usually posted images on imageshack.us but before I registered they disappeared after a period of time, or I would find the image I wanted and did the img with the link and those could have disappeared.

Thats what I think too. Lots of links across the whole board didn't survive the transition.

Then- posting just links without a full story or a pic is worthless for historical reference.

The links are still there, but the new software doesn't recognize height/width commands, while the old software required it. (I think it even automatically appended it)
Here is a post of mine from april 19, 2011 http://gold-silver.us/forum/showthread.php?22927-Thought-Provoking-Photos-(Now-Stickied-)/page29:

If someone were to go and strip "width=600 height=698" from the code it would work again. It would say http://i.imgur.com/lYegM.jpg and the new software would show it like this

I considered going back and fixing all the old links when the software switched over, but it was too much work. I almost wrote a script to do it, but I got lazy.
Now, I can't even go back and edit most of my posts, so the discussion is pretty much moot unless an admin (not mod) intervenes.
