i have enough .22LR stashed away, but good lord, finding it is like finding a leprechaun. i went to a gun show this weekend and there was not a single box, anywhere. and i know it didn't sell out, because i was the number #3 guy in the door. how can there be no .22 anywhere in the entire country? i'm scared to shoot any that i have for fear i won't find another box until 2036.

A local dealer had 2 boxes of 50 each on display .. 22LR. They were only $5 but he would only sell me one.

There are small lots of .22LR to be found on www.texasguntrader.com (http://www.texasguntrader.com) here and there.
But as far as being available online and retail, forget it. We're nearly 90 days post Sandy Hook and yet there's no .22LR to be had?? Something's rotten in Denmark. I've also noticed that the only rifle ammo* that's showing up (WHEN you can find it, and it disappears FAST) is the imported stuff - PMC, Prvi Partisan, GT, Wolf, etc. I'm thinking that Uncle Satan has a huge appetite.
*I shouldn't have to elaborate on why relying on imported ammo is a huge problem

Sure, .22 ammo is available - CB caps. lol
FWIW, you can't shoot CB caps out of your 10/22.

Us proles don't deserve anything lethal.
When are people going to wake up and smell the coffee as to what's really going on (90 days post SH)?? It couldn't be more obvious - what is it, cognitive dissonance??

i can only surmise that the federal government is buying it and dumping it in the ocean. something is afoot, there's no possible way people are hoarding that much of it.

Yeah, I can't imagine people are hoarding 22LR. It's not even proposed to be banned or regulated. wtf?

It's not just .22, it's popular pistol calibers as well. Try finding Gold Dot, or even Winchester T Series. And check the price for standard FMJ/TMJ on ammoseek - 0.70 to a buck a round (when you can find it). Holy shit.

As per silver, I using my telescope to look at the ants run around trying to buy this and that, I say this and that because in the future it won't be about silver of ammo only......buy anything and everything today because it won't be there tomorrow.
Bought all the ammo that I needed five years ago.........have tp put away?

I've actually seen a crap load of 22 Short and 22 Long (not LR) at Turners (local firearm/sporting chain.) All my 22 guns are semi-automatic though. I should buy them you think?
Actually maybe I should since I can single shot those out of my 10/22, though they wont cycle through my magazines...
Do any of you guys know if these 10/22 Short magazines work any good?

you'd have to modify your gun's spring/bolt to get that to work, not worth it imo.

Now you can start to see why people bartered in the Great Depression with 22LR ammo...

Had some interesting conversations while "sugaring" yesterday. While we didn't discuss .22 specifically, all 4 of us there have purchased significant stockpiles over the last year or so. One guy still buying "everything he can that's a resonable price."

It's the only ammo (regularly) used in both pistols and rifles. It makes sense it's hard to come by. Also, there is a lot of new gun buyer news, you can bet granny and 20 year old Timmmy are more likely to buy a .22lr than .45, .223, etc.
And even more so buyers know the price of ammo was/is cheaper and so are the firearms.
My two cents

The AR 15 uppers come in conversion kits for the .22, .50 beuwolf, 9mm. And the .308. All the hard to get ammo for that reason.
