Fast lane is for criminals only.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/woman-gets-ticket-driving-2-miles-per-hour-211957738.html
A Maryland woman has gotten a very unusual speeding ticket for driving a mere two miles under the speed limit on Interstate 95.
Local NBC affiliate News4 reports that the woman, who asked to keep her name anonymous, was driving 63 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone. Police say the reason they ticketed her was that she was driving in the left lane reserved for speedier commuters.
"[I was] really shocked," she told the station. "I thought, 'Oh my God, you've got to be kidding me.'"
Of course, commuters who get annoyed by someone hogging the right lane might salute the move.
However, the woman noted the area was experiencing heavy winds at the time and she was only driving under the speed limit as a safety precaution. She also claimed to have never been ticketed before.
"Sometimes when it's dangerous, you have to do what you can to stay safe," she said.
She has one ally on her side: the local branch of AAA.
"The reason [the ticket] is silly is because it's sending the wrong message," said John Townsend of AAA Mid-Atlantic. "And that is, 'We will tolerate you driving at more than the speed limit, but it you drive below the speed limit, then you're penalized for that.'"

I don't think her speed was the issue, just the lane she was driving in.
Not cause for a ticket, the guy should have just explained to her which lane she should be driving in.

Yet the ticket was written for speed.

She probably slowed down because she saw the police car, and didn't want a speeding ticket, so what is it +/-1 mph?

I understand the right lane to be the driving lane and left the passing.

Would this be the reverse in England?

I understand the right lane to be the one i was extorted to pay for. I also understand the left lane to be the one i was extorted to pay for. Maybe i can choose which one to drive in and which one to pass in?

obstructing traffic, failure to yield the right away. i wish they would ticket every car in the left lane that is not passing any other car!

In CT the law is stay right except to pass. If she was holding up a line of cars because she was slow in the left lane, she was wrong. Passing on the right in CT is illegal, but many still do it without getting ticketed. In this case, the blowhard cop should have just gotten on his speaker and yelled at her to get over in the non-passing lane.

She probably couldn't get into the right lane, had the cop on her ass, and was afraid to speed up to get in front of the cars on her right. Fucked situation but personally I would have put the blinker on and speed up to get over. I can't stand people blocking the left lane because they are going the limit and feel they are above all others.

WTF? Cops do more to impede traffic than any other source. All they do anymore is impede people.

She should have been given a warning, not a ticket. The driving schools do a poor job of instructing new drivers on the rules of the road. Driving in the passing lane with no intention to pass is both dangerous and rude. I see it all the time and it pisses me off royally. I'm confident that if the driver is pulled over and instructed by the policeman about the proper use of the passing lane that the former will remember that lesson for life. Driving above or below the speed limit is a minor probelm compared to the complete lack of attention to the rules of the road that is epidemic where I am: failure to use turn lights, failure to exit the passing lane when not passing, engaging in cell phone chatter while your car lists and shows variable speeds similar to a drunk driver, improper merges (when two lanes merge into one, the car from one lane should alternate with the other lane, every other, every other. I cannot tell you have many times I been cut off by some young bitch in her 20's, glued to a cell phone, gunning her car coming into a merge. It's fucking rude and dangerous.

Maybe automatic transmission has a little to do with some of these? One of my co-workers has to have a manual for this very reason.
She said the 2 autos shes had in past years ended up both dented and beat up. The 4 manuals before and since were all without injury. At least she seen a pattern to identify it.

Sure, but how much... if it's so much $$$ for 1 - 5mph over, and so much more for 6 - 10 over, progressively more at 11 - 15 over, etc.... at 2mph under, do you get cash back???
I can't stand people riding like that in the passing lane, but obviously the cop was just pissed that she was impeding HIS flow to drive like he wants. Just a losing situation to be anywhere near a cop. If he was doing two under in the fast line, like I see them doing all the time, she could have just as easily gotten a ticket for 1mph over trying to get around him, as that has happened to me.

I got pulled over one time and lectured for daring to pass an unmarked police car in the fast lane. He was going under the speed limit on the interstate.
He said "You do not pass me".
True head case. He was, after all, UNMARKED.

That's why he has that career, to satiate his need to 'control' others.

I had to drive through Orlando a couple of weeks ago, and passed no less than four cars that were pulled over by unmarked cars, but what was different this time is the unmarked cars weren't just the police car type or SUV without badging, no, they were all Rent-a-wreck looking cars from the 80's and 90's, with just a small blue light in the dash. That's a new level of devious, and I'd be pissed at my wife for pulling over for one of them. Oh, I know they'd want to come down on you hard, real hard, for not stopping, but I can't understand how you'd be expected to, or how a charge of "evading" could stick (except, of course, for the judges working for the Corp.). How much you wanna bet that's the favored method Mossad uses when someone needs to disappear? Hell, you see it in movies all the time, in the mists of all their predictive programming.

I passed a marked cop car on a 3 lane surface street just the other day, he was driving under the speed limit, in fact a lot of people were passing him

I agree, if you are not overtaking a vehicle any time soon, it is fucking rude to be in the left lane, no matter what your speed is.
I have to say that I like driving in Istanbul, never any speed controls, on the four lane drive to my work you can go in any lane you choose, the best strategy of driving is like you would play the ancient computer game Space Invaders, if you want to get there fast!

The STATISTS of GSUS have spoken.....Driving too slow, or too fast, or in the wrong lane or in MY lane means you should be FORCIBLY extorted for money by Pirates under the threat of being locked in a cage.
Do you want to know what i do when someone is driving to slow for my liking? I dont call mommy and daddy (The Communist STATE who controls all Transportation) NO, i simply go around them.
If you think ANYTHING else should be done about this YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.

While Im right there with ya, there still is an etiquette and consideration to being on the road. Piss on the gov "rules", mainly just common courtesy and risk reduction.

People who don't use their turn signals I assume are douchebags in every other aspect of their life.
Lol... The only difference between douchebags and cops is that the douchebags don't have State sanctioned "authority" that allows them to terrorize and extort me.
