Congress controls the purse strings, if they had any balls they would choke them until they got some answers. Maybe then congress would gain a little respect.

ROTFLMAO
We live in the time of a 'unitary executive'. The Germans had a name for it. Der Fuhrer. If you don't know what that means, read about the German parliament of 1933. The Nazis stuffed it with their candidates, so it became a rubber stamp for what Der Fuhrer wanted. And the purse strings are controlled by the banksters who own both parties. Congress doesn't represent us. If they need money, they borrow it, and assume the people are liable to repay it. Our taxes are used to pay the interest on the national debt. There seems to be a huge gap between what people are taught and what actually exists. It is the job of the media to maintain this gap by never discussing what actually exists. Or ever reconciling it with what people have been taught.
I bet you believe that the 13th Amendment ended slavery? So, tell me how much money do you owe the banks?
