“There is no reason for people to rush to petrol stations to fill their tanks,” POVEK said asking consumers to “show understanding so we can all get through this hard time together”.

That's not the only thing about to disappear. I would imagine that shop owners, not accepting cards, and very limited cash around, would decide to close shop and move merchandise somewhere safe, and sell only to personal acquaintances for cash/gold/property after appointments discussing terms...

why are the countries hardest hit, Greece & Cyprus ?
it's very convenient for Israel. they want to be the most powerful country in the region.
Greece & Cyprus are natural locations for Israel to locate additional military bases. the US already has a large Air Force base near Athens.
having Greece & Cyprus on the ropes allows Israel to exert control over them.
many years ago, I would have thought it was a coincidence.
now I wonder if we are seeing Israeli foreign policy at work.

I would imagine most large shipments/deliveries of gasoline (tanker truck, or by ship) are made with bank credit, not with cash.
so there is no new gasoline coming on the island, at least not large supplies
