some of you will recall my gold mine adventures.

got a letter from the canadian mining people. all that is holding up my claim on the old mine is a "professional" analysis of some material from my mine. apparently i have to prove their is gold there before they will let me "destroy" the environment looking for it.

i'm supposed to provide a spectral analysis of a sample of my rock. it's supposed to tell how part gold, silver, nickle, blah, blah, blah.

anyone know a reputable place where i can get this done without spending a fortune?

since i started this adventure, 4 other claims have popped up within 3 miles of my secret place. apparently the word is getting out about what used to be in the area. any help would be appreciated. otherwise, you will my mine in a barrick gold brochure probably.

There must be a few good assay offices searchable on line. One of these should be able to point you in the right direction.

How intensive are you planning? Strip? Lone mizer?

Did you have to stake a claim? I would prefer to quietly go on camping trips. :)

i have to stake a claim. it's surrounded on 3 sides by other claims now. only a matter of time before somebody remembers it's there. so far, so good. the closest one now ends about 3 miles away.

Didn't Crazy Chicken do something with that ore? Would that analysis be good enough proof for the bureaucrats? WTH happened to CC anyway? He was going to tell us about your sample and then disappeared. I hop he's OK.

the one cc did for me was just and informal gs-us friend type thing. he measured purity for me, but i need a printout of everything in the sample. i have to prove to the canadian gov that it is a legit mining claim and that i'm not just trying to get a piece of land to camp on.

Oh, so they WANT it to go into production.

Do they stipulate time allowance and investment requirements? Heavy machinery? Dozers and sleuicing rigs?

i have restrictions on what i can do as it's right on the shore of a lake. even worse, the lake is one of a few in ontario used as breeding grounds for redfin trout. basically i am restricted to 1800s style placer mining. based on my size, i have to provide between $300 and $1,500 worth of property "investments" per year. i'll find out what my amount is and what those include when i'm granted the claim. they told me they had a rash of people in the 1980s and 1990s filing mining claims just to be able to have free places to make hunting and fishing camps on the crown land. they're trying to weed out people who aren't really going to be mining and are trying to circumvent camping permits/utilizing resorts. i'm also told this is because i'm a foreigner, apparently i would not have to do this step if i was canadian makes sense, they are trying to keep the shysters out.

Start a Canadian mining company then, but I think you will need to share your million with the Canadian government regardless...
