I live in CA and we have a mag cap at 10 rounds. Pre-ban mags are legal however.

I have a newer 10/22 rifle, ruger takedown. I also have some pre-ban high cap mags. Of course, I purchased these many years ago. These are legal because they have been grandfathered in. I walk the line, yes sir and yes ma'am, I bought these before the ban was put in place.

Can I legally use a pre ban mag, with an obviously modern post ban rifle?

How can I show that the mag is pre ban?

A faded receipt will work. Not sure about the cross pollination issue though.

The bottom line

If they want to string your @$$ up They will.


I would keep my "prized "mags to myself .

The only time they are seeing the light of day is when it comes time to Rock out.

What he said. Stay away from using hi-cap mags at public ranges. Save them for SHTF.

Thanks milehi, I was given one tri mag a couple of weeks ago, one of the ruger ones and have yet to set it up. I only have 3 mags for my takedown 10/22, but would like to order more, if I can find them.
