ESPN said that sources confirmed to the outlet that two drivers have been advised by their PR people not to conduct interviews in the Texas Motor Speedway media center in order to avoid the NRA logo from appearing behind them.

The move is just the latest in media hysteria that has resulted from the NRA sponsoring Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup race, the NRA 500.

FORT WORTH — The National Rifle Association is the sponsor of Saturday night's NRA 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway, and that's stirring up some controversy.

Sen. Chris Murphy (Communist-Connecticut) is asking the Fox network not to broadcast the Sprint Cup race.

Murphy wrote a letter to Fox chief Rupert Murdoch, saying the NRA 500 shouldn't happen as lawmakers consider gun control laws.

Speedway president Eddie Gossage said this is about racing — not politics.

"The American public is not engaged in this, but the senator keeps trying to stir it up, and I can appreciate that," Gossage said. "He's in Connecticut. We're in Texas. His values don't fly here."

Fox officials said the race will be broadcast as scheduled.

The Busch brothers will be in the front row. Kyle busch knocked big brother Kurt Busch off the pole on Friday night.
