"...Here is Bill Murphy of GATA explaining the documentary which will be aired this coming Thursday:
"On that note, perhaps the CBC documentary, The Secret World of Gold, to be aired next Thursday, will wake some more people up. If what is presented is what I know was filmed, and not edited out, it will be quite a revelation. Those of us who were interviewed, and know of some of the other interviews, have been silent in fear of the Canadian Government, or the US Government, canceling the program. That fear is with justification. A phone call from former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, to the producers of the BBC investigative show Panorama caused that show to be cancelled, as it dealt with similar revelations as the ones to be exposed by the CBC.
Why mention this now with a week to go? Because it is on their visible TV schedule. To cancel it now would create more of a disturbance than the viewing of the program. Will let Café members know what was filmed a couple of days before … one to promote the program and two in case the really juicy stuff is edited out. The key is that the show is watched by enough people to get further traction.
DOC ZONE is the flagship documentary series of CBC Television. Its documentaries come from the front lines of the world's news and span the ideas, forces and events that are shaping our lives. The best directors and cinematographers bring strong, narrative stories that reveal the drama of the evolving human experience. Presented by acclaimed author, actor and playwright Ann-Marie MacDonald, this series brings the viewer in-depth stories in the journalistic tradition of The New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic, with the sweep and scope of the best documentary work in contemporary television..."
