He knows he cant charge 9 plus dollars on his spread because he will get called out.

I am not so sure, they usually cover that with premiums

silver at $25 is a bargain

bargain shoppers cleaned him out is my guess

I'm with TT on this. This is new paper price discovery. Apmex is currently 6 frn premium not including their shipping fees on small orders. You are ponying up for 500 oz just to get their 4 frn markup.

We see the same thing happen when we get these precipitous drops. Dealers hold inventory, especially the locals, because they are getting hit and no one is going to pay for the premium difference of 6-8 frns unless they are desperate for silver.

I think if you are buying and are not desperate just wait things out.

I can only imagine what the Monday morning smackdown is going to look like today.

I am not sure guys, I asked Pat Gorman (owner of resource consultants, in phoenix) about this, we were at lunch together.

Asked him if he ever bought on the dips, etc

he said "no, its all based on volume, and premiums, I adjust premiums, and the more I sell, the more I make"

he actually said the guys that hold inventory, or buy for personal speculation are the ones who lose, and end up going broke, he said you treat it like a business

APMEX premiums have absorbed roughly 2/3 of the silver spot price drop vis-a-vis SAEs. What's interesting is that the premium per coin is higher if you buy individual SAEs versus an entire monster box, the reverse of usual. Premuims on 2013 SAEs are running about $4, on 2013 Monster Box it's $4.50 per coin and for earlier year Monster boxes it's $6 per coin! So if you want to buy physical silver, at least SAEs you're not getting that much of a discount from a couple of weeks ago. To me APMEX is more a barometer of small investors - we should watch to see if their inventories go dry. As for Tulving, he services larger investors, serious money. If he is sold out, it would be very useful to know why: either he is sold out of inventory; or he has pulled inventory. Frankly, I would have expected Tulving to cover himself with paper shorts. Don't all the alrge dealers do this?

FWIIW. price floor on SAEs on Ebay has softened some to $31-32, about $6 premium over spot.

MONEX offers finacing. And their prices are very competitive. If you buy 100 or more SAEs they're asking for $26.66. I wonder if they are stocked? I may call them later.

Exactly. Makes no sense to say that there is a "disconnect" between paper and physical prices. Go to our local dealer to sell a coin because we maybe need some "money" for something and the ONLY price he will give you is the official Kitco spot price that two jews in London City made up that day.

Buy today at what ever the price because you won't find it tomorrow at what ever the price.....remember my long ago story about takind $9,999.99 to Cuba to fix my dad's home? and was unable to find the material to do it with, that was in the days when the dollar was king in Cuba.

You guys keep talking about paying7, 10, 12 bucks in primium when the price is $23.+, well, what will you be thinking when the price goes to $125.00?..........shit, shit, shit.......I should had bought it at $34.00.........many of you are stuck in the today instead of thinking in the tomorrow.......... If you have to talk so much about this it only means that you really don't have the money to "pull" the trigger.

It's not a true shortage until there's nothing but 1000-oz bars for sale. You could get them for under $10k a few years ago when everything else was sold out or had a $5 premium.

Tulving has always taken down his site (like he did Fri-Sat), posted Out of Stock, or simply doesnt answer the phone when prices take a big dip.

He's been doing that for the 5 years I been buying from him.

If the dip holds for a week or so, he'll be selling again.
