i bought a refurbished gamo bull air whisper .177 air rifle from woot.com for $149. figured, with, with ammo being what it is, this would be fun to shoot around the house for basically free.

this is not the air rifle i grew up with it. i know it's not a rimfire .22, but it has to be damn close. i was punching holes in coffee cans (clean through) at 25 yards or so. not sure what the long range effectiveness is, but if you want something you can buy a lifetime of ammo supply for $100 and kill small game, something like this would be it.

you could shoot this thing forever for basically nothing. will be shooting a rabbit or two with it later tonight.

I have had the regular .177 whisper for a few years now and yes they are hard hitting. These are not the pellet guns of my childhood also Chad!

Also at 50 yards they still have good punch.

And the scope that came with it is not too shabby ether, mine works well, have thought of trying it on one of my .22's but not sure how tough the internals are.

I have a few .22 airguns, a C02 rifle and pistol, plus a multi-pump pistol. I stocked up on pellets and C02 a few years ago. I like the multi-pump for pest control. 1 pump is perfect to splat those nasty palmetto bugs. 3-4 pumps will kill a mole from across the yard.

A couple of years ago. I bought this .22 air rifle that has a compressed air tube going with it. Holds pressure for approximately 50 shots, comes with a 10 pellet mag, and with that I can shoot a shot a second approximately. Good punch too, about 50 Joules a shot, or 1000 fps with a 15 grain pellet, no noticable recoil like you get with a spring loaded air gun, and it is quiet... The only drawback is that it is a tad heavy at 10 lbs.. I have a hand pump with it to compress the air, about 5 minutes of work. I bought 3000 rounds of pellets for next to nothing...

i just shot a rabbit with the platinum pellets. with those, it sounds like a .22LR.
