So if this is a realistic production amount, and consumption of the two metals was equal,
we should see silver at $125 when gold is $1000.

Sure, that's the production.....but......how about the comsummation? as far as I am concern silver is more valuable that gold, at this time a lot of silver is being used for electronics and so on and in the future this will increase......those of you who are only thinking of today are not thinking getting ready for the future......

It's not that simple as you no doubt know. Uing this logic platinum should be multiples of the price of gold and palladium should be priced like gold, no?

ok, here is the thing that makes gold so much more valuable (today)

central banks keep it on account, and they print the money

see the disparity there?

unlimited money (demand) and they only want gold

silvers day is coming, its all used up, none left..... but silver has to be bought by the sheep, to get its day in the sun.... that day approaches

I know it is much more complex.... but sometimes the simplistic overview sets a general perspective. Knowing just how much is used and what changes will come in technology would help sharpen the picture. Governments seem to hoard gold as a store of wealth so that boosts the gold value. Silver seems to be used up and not recycled as much as gold so that would favor a higher silver price.

But this is all silly supply & demand talk. We know that the real price is determined by paper and notional holdings of the metals.
