Teachers Shocked, Frightened After School Holds Unplanned Shooting Drill May 2, 2013 6:53 AM
HALFWAY, Ore. (CBS Seattle/AP) — Teachers were shocked and caught off guard when an Oregon school held a school shooting drill.
The Oregonian (http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2013/04/gunfire_and_moments_of_fear_as.html) reports Pine Eagle Charter School in Halfway held the drill last Friday as children were home for an in-service day. Two masked “gunmen” burst into a meeting room holding 15 teachers firing blanks. Teachers only realized it wasn’t a real shooting when none of them were bleeding.

WOW how utterly stupid... traumatize the students and teachers... for what? Conditioning... Training? I go with conditioning. There is nothing that serves the students pulling a stunt like this. IMHO

It would have been funny as hell

If one of those teachers had a heart attack and died from the shock.

Or better yet one of them had military trained and stabbed one of them right in the neck and let em bleed out.

Cause im telling you right now i have the abilty to protect myself at all times and if EVER get into a situation where if you are attacking but i manage to get the drop on you THATS A WRAP FOR YOUR @$$.

So what preparation lesson did they learn? When masked gunmen burst into a room and nobody else has a firearm, then your fukked.

State employees to be prepared to lay down their lives for the body politic as conditions require...

More funny if a teacher had a gun and shot at least three of them.

that's probably what they wanted, to prove "real" firearms are deadly... (rollyeyes)

To terrify them. So they will now say and believe "they came in so fast, its just bam bam, no one would POSSIBLY be able to stop something like that, even if they had a gun, it was just so fast and scary and now I want the police to hold my hand everywhere and guns are bad".

Poetic justice, along with a healthy dose of instant karma.

And yet many remain in absolute denial when confronted as to whom the real terrorists are.

I'm thinking that this is more like the boy who cried wolf . When something real happens it could be looked at as a drill until its too late . This could numb them to the point of not believing a situation is real .Take away the natural fight or flight response .
How many times did everyone get up at 2 or 3 in the morning when some goof pulled a fire alarm in a college dorm 5 or 6 times a week, most just a few times as freshmen then the screw it its a joke mindset kicks in and you put the pillow over your head and go back to sleep.

Kind of like the odd coincidence that "terrorist events" seem to always happen while the government is "having a drill". Nothing to see here, move along.......then BAM!!....... Oops, what a coincidence......still nothing to see here, move along.....

"The school held the unplanned drill in hopes to better educate teachers on how to deal with a school shooting. Of the 15 teachers in the room, only two would have survived."

what an assinine thing to do, some kid makes a pistol sign with his finger and he's suspended for days, yet these cretins pull a stunt like this and condone it, if you're sitting in a room and masked gunmen burst in and hose the room down, you're more than likely gonna buy the farm, the asshole that came up with this idea should be fired and then charged and convicted

What would have happened if a quick thinking teacher / staff member took a ink pen and went for a shooter stabbed him in the throat and killed him . Again fight or flight reaction , nowhere to run fight to the death . Well crap Bob , this was just a drill , no real bullets and you just killed Tom .

As a matter of fact, some piece of shit Colorado politician recommends exactly this. He said that you don't need guns to protect yourself from a mass shooting, because you can use a ball point pen.

The real question is , what would the legal system do to a teacher / staff if they killed an actor because nobody knew it was a *drill*

This reminds me of the "Elevator experiment".

Elevator opens, and random passerby sees a man strangling another man.

The researchers were very sure nobody would do anything - but how stupid would they feel if a passerby attacked the assailant? How can you be sure this won't happen?

You're looking pretty stupid when your actor gets maimed or killed.....

Good video. Now would you even try that experiment in an armed community?

I didn't think so.
