A friend of mine is visiting us. He has an account with HSBC, but its international website for Internet banking has been down for two days. So the question is what is going on? Any news? We are eating dinner so I don't really have the time to google it, does any of you guys have any info?

No news, the site works for me. International banking wants you to choose your location (country).

i closed an account with HSBC in 2010/ 2011 because it was so hard to obtain access to my money starting in January 2010. their customer service changed very dramatically, right about the time that the US added FBAR reporting (foreign bank account reporting) to their Smorgasbord o' Fascism.

in that case it was an American with an account with a Canadian bank.

Yes that is what my friend tried to do, we are in Turkey and his bank account is US, but when he chooses US he gets turned down. He needs to transfer money from his savings account to his checking account to take out cash here...

in my case, i tried to contact the account exec. & their boss about 5 times, then had to get the CEO of Canada HSBC involved before anything happened.

i don't think it was just my breath :)
