Today, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach issued a statement in response to Eric Holder’s direct threat (http://blog.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2013/05/eric-holder-threatens-kansas-in-letter-on-gun-control-nullification-law/) against the state for its new law, the 2nd Amendment Protection Act. It reads, in part:

With respect to his concern that federal officials be allowed to enforce federal laws, Mr. Holder’s statement is a curious one. He was evidently not concerned that ATFE officials be allowed to enforce federal law when his agency oversaw the “fast and furious” operation to walk guns into the hands of Mexican cartels.
The State of Kansas is determined to restore the Constitution and to protect the right of its citizens to keep and bear arms.

The real issue is that neither the feds NOR the State are paying any attention to the WORDS of the Act OR the Constitution. The Act is a do-nothing feel-good bill passed by our State legislators to pull the wool over We The Sheoples’ eyes.1. It protects only firearms “manufactured and owned in the state of Kansas”. This would include ONLY those manufactured by Wichita Arms and owned by an elite group of people who have everything and decide they can afford a $2000+ hunting rifle… and they ARE nice ones.2. It will NOT attract firearms manufacturers to Kansas. What company in its right frame of mind would move a factory to Kansas so they could sell ONLY to Kansans and their products could NOT be transported across State lines?3. The 2nd Amendment says “shall not be infringed”. This was written in response to concerns of an over-bearing federal government evolving (as it now has) and to OVERRIDE the Commerce Clause and the Supremacy Clause in the case ONLY of firearms bearing. So the Act Is Constitutional but it does NOTHING.AND while I’m at it… THINK before you support the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act…. WHO in their right mind wants the federal government in charge of Concealed Carry laws in ALL States? This horrendous act states that the federal government will collect data on firearms laws and firearms ownership from all states and then come up with a uniform Concealed Carry Law. Anyone hear “National Gun Registry”?The NRA is the only pro-2nd-Amendment group that supports this trashy legislation and DO NOT ask me why. The NAGR and GOA among others are very much against it.

We'll cave. Kansas always caves. Our elected officials are so afraid of looking like hicks in the eyes of "sophisticated" outsiders that they go out of their way to piss on the good citizens of this state.

"You should be thankful we don't make wine in Kansas. If you ever see Kansas wine, don't drink it." Kathleen Sebelius WHILE GOVERNOR OF KANSAS.

Turns out, Kansas has at least two wineries that consistently win national awards for their wine. The bitch just wanted to ingratiate herself to her uppity liberal friends and she decided that the best way was to insult the rest of the state. Same thing will happen with the gun bill.

I hope not. This makes me want to move to Kansas.

I was visiting one of the wineries yesterday and their stuff was better than anything I've bought at any package store.

I am concerned that it may be just a "feel good" bill. Kobach's concern seems to be an easy victory in court. This won't be settled in court. Maybe Witchita Arms will begin making weapons the rest of us want to buy.

It's not a bill, it was signed into law by the governor. That's what takes it to the next level, and shows that they are serious.
