Ponce, I know you understand at a deeper level what it's like to live when SHTF more than most, if not all, of us here. My problem is that I simply don't have the resources to prepare for self-sufficiency if SHTF. I've done the best I can with my limited resources to prepare for my family, and I add a little here and there when I can (see this thread I started (http://gold-silver.us/forum/showthread.php?64445-Prepping-at-the-Dollar-Store)). I wish I had a year's worth of supplies, but I don't.

Regarding your video, I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I will try to later today.

Self sufficiency was phased out in the beginnings of the 50s. My grandparents stored tons of stuff but as they got older they changed into the buyers of the time. They teach nothing about it in schools, not even how to write a fucking check in home economics.

Thanks Franks, I whished that I had some encouraging words for you but because I KNOW that is going to be worse than in Cuba all that you can do is all that you can do.........sorry to say that someone who I thought that was my friend told every one in my towns about my preps so that now I have taken extra care in my preps, even if I am killed and they come into my home many of them will become my servants in Valhalla.

Start trainning yourself and your family for what is to come.........one thing that I am doing is not to throw toilet paper in the commode but in a enclouse waste basket next to me, using as little power as I can and most of the power, at this time, is going for two freezers and frig.........electric water tank I turn it on and off as needed, dryer one a week.....no worries about water but I do keep my full at all time.

Thrieft Store, first week of every month thay have a special, eight items of clothing for five dollars.........I was there yesterday sixteen work pants for ten dollar and a manual typewriter for fifteen dollars........now I have to get some ribbons for it and vacuum sealed them.............next months I'll be getting 32 women's dresses for twenty dollars, not cocktail dresses but rugged everyday ones.

Buy today all that you think that you will need tomorrow at whatever the price, because tomorrow you won't be able to buy it, at whatever the price.

One thing I envy about you Ponce is that you made your fortune and you can spend a good amount of your time getting ready for what's to come. After I work 50-60 hours a week, spend time with my kids, do the chores, etc., I don't have time to hit the thrift stores looking for the deals out there. I barely hit the garage/estate sales anymore. One thing I still do though, is treasure hunt with my metal detector with my kids on weekends. That's quality time I can spend with them at the same time.

LOL Franks, I used to do metal detecting at the monkey bars at Venice Beach, you had the rick old men that think that they are Tarzan and wanted to show off for the family and many goodies would drop from thir pockets....by the way, my "fortune" is not what I have but rather how I handle the little that I do have..........I only live from my SS and is more than what I really need and that't why I am not worried about my silver and gold because I really woi;d not know what to do about it when prices go up......in my old age maybe a couple of good looking nurses to take care of my needs, in another 20 or 25 years, maybe ahahahahahahahahah.

WTSHTF will see what happens and that is that......soooooo.. .........why worry?
