View Full Version : Stephen Hawking boycotts top Israeli conference.

Internet Zionists are torqued off about it.
Cosmologist Stephen Hawking has pulled out of an Israeli conference, joining an academic boycott of Israel to protest against its occupation of Palestinian lands, Cambridge University said on Wednesday.
The wheelchair-bound Hawking, who has won international recognition for his work on black holes, had been due to speak at a prestigious conference in June organised by Israeli President Shimon Peres that draws hundreds of leading world figures.
However, his name was quietly dropped from the list of participants earlier this week, giving a major boost to supporters of pro-Palestinian groups that want to isolate Israel on the international stage over the continued occupation.
"This is his independent decision to respect the boycott, based upon his knowledge of Palestine, and on the unanimous advice of his own academic contacts there," the British Committee for the Universities of Palestine said on its website.
Cambridge University, where Hawking works, confirmed that the statement had been approved by the professor. Hawking did not issue any statement in his own name.

Hawkings is Anti-God (no suprise he would be Anti-Israel) and although I am certainly against any wickedness purported by Israel (and they do), they are still God's choosen nation. They have the world's attention, you can't deny that and they are hatred by most, you can't deny that, but once they (as a nation) convert to Jesus Christ and realize he IS the Messiah, that will all change

Dr Hawkings is one of the very few people that I would give my life for in order for him to be normal and to be able to contribute more to this stinky world.

Unfortunately, in the best case, that will happen about the time of the end of the world.

Please watch your tone, Ponce.
Hawkings is celebrated for work on imaginary objects (black holes). I also would want to see him in a normal situation, but out of ordinary human compassion, not because of his perceived greatness.

I have to support Ponce's opinion on this one. It's precisely "religion" that has allowed Isreal to get away with the stuff it does. As long as people keep alive this whole "god's chosen people" BS, Isreal will be able to murder and manipulate with impunity.

The "tone" issue was regarding attacking another member. It had not gotten to the point of an attack, but it was leading that direction.

Not to derail things, but this whole notion of "chosen" just sounds like bad parenting to me. Why anybody would support a "parent" that tells them outright, "I love all my kids, but some of you are just more special than the rest" is beyond me. I'll never understand religion and the people that give themselves over to it. Oh and how then does it feel to be "runner up" because your "god's" first choice didn't want what he was offering? I think I'd tell him that if I wasn't good enough to be first choice the first time around, he can just keep whatever he's giving. Thank you very much, I'll think for myself.
I know a bunch of you guys are religious and I support your right to believe in anything you want. I'm just pointing out that for me it doesn't compute.

When I was a boy, I asked my father, a wise man, why the Jews were "the chosen." He responded wryfully, "chosen for what?"

Ponce simply pointed out that Israel's actions are very far from Christian.
using Christian theology to defend Israel's actions is not exactly what Jesus had in mind. /understatement

No disrespect but imaginations are sorta like bungholes, everyone has one..
Tho it would be nice to see the forum members more civil and adult towards each other. And not act like a bunch of school yard kids. Unlike the high drama of the past. No mater the meaning of ponces post, there has been far worse, from certain members that you all (mods) totally ignored and let them get away with it.
The rule needs to be applied to everyone and not just a few.
IMO.

Thank you guys :) , no splicid words were said and here we have a case where the mind created the words and not the context of the message ..... is not that a modetator chew me out but rather the reason for doing so that I didn't like.
Also, something that I said before, the chewing should be done by pm and that way the guilty party, if they are guilty, would not be insulted.

This guy is so intellectual it paralysis me , lacks heart and soul but because of his condition everyone feels sorry for him.
There is a way too explain truth and this guy dosnt do it.

Who is saying who's chosen anyway. Despite a book saying this, I have come to seriously doubt this claim. I think the "rejected ones" got to write the official "narrative" which became the bible in which certain things were changed to reflect a different desired reality. I don't think there is any valid claim there at all. I think it's BS.

I do believe in God for no other reason then I have to many good things happen in my life to just dismiss as luck or happenstance.
But God also gave me a logical mind and I intend to use it.
And this is one of the things that REALLY chaps my hyde.
If God wanted to have CHOSEN people .... thats fine but why make anybody else if you Perfer the first??
Nothing but Friction can arise from a system set up like so.

What people call "God" or Guatama or whatever are all the same......it should have no name for it is what it is, it is everywhere and is everything......I like the term from "Star Wars"....... "The Force"........it is neither male or female, nor a bug or a insect..........many years ago I read a book where the end was.......the girl "Thank God that we won" and the rat sitting next to her answered back "You Welcome".
