It seems like there is a mad scramble for physical at the moment ,from the top to the bottom.

So the FED is buying north of 90% of mortgage backed securities. A year or two ago that was the number they bought on Treasury auctions too. I doubt it is any less today though I haven't followed it in any great detail recently. There is no functioning market for these papers. Bernanke just needs to press the red button and he starts a depression, stops government from functioning, sure the Federal Reserve had powers to do these things before also, but now it is much much worse...
