My trip to the VA yesterday......by me........ V

I was given a complete medical check up, including blood and urine, and except for my blood preassure everything was on the up and up........once again they tried to convince me to take vp pill and as usual I told them NO, and the same for flue shot and something else.

From ther wenet to the dollar store and Wally's world..........the prices were way down at Wally's and many times lower the the dollar store......a can of Pork and Beans for .50 cents, I bought 50 of those, Chinese containers that went from two dollars to two seventy five was now $1.89 cents.....and the same for many items, I ask the cashier how come the low prices and she told me "Everybody is broke".........to me that they are traying to get rid of the competition, like the dollar store.

For this and that reason I won $100.00 from this guy, at the VA, that told me that I dind't have a 23 years old Toy truck.

Did you check the expiration dates for those 50 cans of pork n beans? Sometimes at the dollar store they get the old stuff that's about to go bad.

might be a good idea to limit your intake of "canned" foods since you're hypertensive, most anything in a can is high in sodium

Franks? this was from Wally's and not the $ store......like I said, they are trying to put the $ store out of business.

Pete? hahahahahahahahahah, many who thinks that way will die of hunger with 5,000 cans infront of them...will they choose to eat their dogs and cat instead?....many will trade their daughters for two cans of sodium.

Most canned goods are still eatable years after the date on the can, many years. Would they still taste the same as new, probably not but probably yes also. Depends on what the contents are.

And Willy Pete is right, canned goods do have large amounts of salt in them, Tho the salt also probably can contribute to shelf life.

With time the only thing that will happen to canned food is that it will loose its vitamins.....that's why I have a lot of vitamins at hand, "C" rations is a good example of this.

Less than 10 years or so, a friend found some old ww2 c rations somewhere and we opened them (waxed paper box seal) and tried the canned stuff out. The other stuff in the pack was petrified (sorta) One of those daring each other "you first" things. They were eatable nether of us got sick, but the taste was questionable but not having a base reference who knows?

It is said they did not taste great when new.

I really did not mind them......my favorite was the pound cake..........the new just add water was tested by my company back in 1961 at Ft Greely Alaska and the same for the M-16 protective gas mask, at the time my face was to small for it, I weighted 120 at that time.......yesterday at the VA it was 168.....no good, should be 160-165.

How tall were you then? I am or was (have not a clue now) 6'-2" and when I came back from the Vietnam thing (Thailand) I weighed abt 125 skin/muscle and bones. Was never more healthy in my life.

Weigh somewhere abt 250-60 now and have filled out to match my frame with a tad of gut! ;D
