vacuum - I really have to wonder if this is what really happened, or if the phone was simply recording audio 24x7 and they simply either caught the key words, or they suspected it was him and pulled/reviews the log that they already had. It seems almost incredible that this actually happened the way it is claimed.
OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) - A man, before fatally shooting another man on I-95, accidentally called 911 which recorded his plan for murder.
Scott Simon was arrested Tuesday night for the murder of 33-year-old Nicholas Walker, who was shot while driving his car onto I-95.
It was a butt-dialing blunder that led police to the man they say orchestrated the fatal shooting. Now they’re looking for his co-conspirators.
In the accidental phone call to 911, Simon is recorded telling someone else that he’s going to follow the victim home and kill him.
Simon has been charged with first-degree murder for his involvement in the killing of Walker on May 5th, although Broward Sheriff’s
Office homicide detectives don’t believe he was the one who fired the gun.
According to reports, Simon coordinated the shooting after an argument with Walker at a nearby Waffle House.
Deputies arrived at the scene at 6:40 AM and found Walker’s Buick crashed into a guard rail. After a fire was put-out, police found Walker dead of gunshot wounds.
Detectives are asking for help in identifying two other suspects. Surveillance video shows a man they believe to be involved in the murder. The suspects were driving a black 2012 Buick GS on the night of the incident.
