i know they say not to clean coins, but, i'd be tempted to clean those.
that stash in the original photo - if you traded it for a Monster box (of Silver Eagles, not Gold Eagles) - who would be getting the better deal ?

I have a metal detector, it's a lot of fun to look for caches like that, but it's also very rare to find one. Some days I've spent hours and hours outside old mining grounds and found nothing but a bit of wire and scrap.

i have this vision of a 4 wheel drive "Roomba" combined with a metal detector.
since metal detecting is time consuming, it seems logical to make robots to do it for you.
they pick up the little nuggets, and put it in a pouch in their back, sort of like a turtle/kangaroo.
they spray-paint the big nuggets that are hard to move.
they beep loud when they need a battery pack re-fill or their pouch is full.
only one problem. i'm not that good at robotics :)

Like I posted before.......my favorite place was Venice Beach and specially the monkey bars where many show off daddy's just to drop a lot of jewlery and coins.........the beach itself had to be cleaned really early before the swepping machine came by to crean up the sand of all its "junk" or around 6 pm when the day was almost done......when I bough mine it cost me $950.00 but the sme thing now days goes for $80.00..............and yes, the machine paid for itself.
