An elderly woman in China was given 400,000 yuan, roughly $65,000 US dollars, by her children six months ago. As reported by Chinese state television CCTV, she kept the money at home wrapped in a plastic bag and stored in a wooden drawer. The unidentified woman only noticed the money trouble in April when she went to retrieve some cash to redecorate her house. The unlucky woman got a lucky break when she took the money to a local bank that generously scanned and identified the remaining cash. The bank was able to ID approximately 340,000 RMB ($55,430 USD) reducing the woman’s loss to about $10,000 US dollars, 15% of her savings.

Well, my "termite" was a light bulb, hid $10,000 on a lamp and forgot about it, two week later I turned on the lamp to do some work and next thing that you know I was smelling something burning......lucky for me it only burned a hole thrue it and the bank was able to exchange it with no problem............another time I have about $5,000 under my night stand and forgot about it, found it six months later while moving.......I won't tell you how many names my X called me.

These termites are in direct competition with banks and their inflation creating.

well, actually, by destroying the bank notes the termites were forces of deflation.

perhaps this is the Universe Balancing Itself.

i wonder if anybody makes a cardboard-ish insecticide, bank notes sized, for people to use when storing bundles of money.

safe to say, not a huge industry. :)

Are worms considered insects?

they're wormy looking.

baby insects AKA maggots, for example.

+ Caterpillars have a wormy shape.

a very interesting philosophical question.

but actually, earthworms redworms etc., are definitely not insects.

no 6 legs, no exoskeleton.

+ redworms are easier to swallow live.
