Spokeswoman Vicki Granado told WDSU the gas line is a 5,500-mile pipe stretching from Texas to Florida. The line supplies gas to utility companies and power plants.
According to Granado, the 30-inch pipe that exploded has been isolated and rerouted. It is more than 30 years old and must be maintained in a regular basis, she added.

Some structures may have been damaged in the blast.

Law enforcement and Hazmat crews were at the scene.

The fire was out about 7 a.m. and nearly 10,000 were without power in the Parish, officials said

They will find a way to blame the Muslims...or on a guy with a rifle that shot the gas line by accident.............kill all Muslims and confiscate all ammo.

"...Authorities late Tuesday still were trying to determine what caused a 30-inch natural gas line explosion in southern Washington Parish, but so far have said the blast does not appear to be suspicious. The line exploded at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on Lee Road near South Thigpen Road in the Enon area south of Franklinton, literally rocking the area and sending a fireball into the sky..."
