I'm glad almost all of my Silver is in Junk Silver. I was buying almost at spot, now junk is at $7 over spot on places like Apmex, DESPITE the current price. The door to get cheap Junk Silver is completely closed right now as the market is almost bare.

i only need 7 more of these overpriced, hyped, pieces of idiocy to finish the box, then i am done.

I've been sniffing a bit on morgans and peace dollars, but they are popular around these parts as well so it's not easy to get a good deal. When i do find them at good prices its usually the most common dates and in bad condition. Would have been wise to buy hard 5 years ago.
The thing is that these are old and to many people old = valuable.

nothing more Classic than a Morgan !
i wonder why they made them .7763 ounces (or whatever) instead of the same weight as 2x 50 cents pieces, about .73 when they're new & .715 worn down.

That's when "the value of a dollar" meant something.

I don't know how you can expect AU Morgans to be priced below $30. At that grade they are most certainly numismatic items with a collectable value which adds 50%+ to the base metal price.
Common, average circulated Morgans on the other hand, are readily available under $30.

I've only ever bought AU Morgans. The others are cull metal.

Culls, huh? LOL. You know, there's something magical about holding an old circulated silver dollar that you know has been in the hands of cowboys, the tills of old general stores, the tables of wild west poker games, a treasure of life and experiences you're holding in your hand. I much prefer them to the sterile uncirculated examples which have always been protected under the watchful eye of the collector. :)

Yup. I bought only culls a few years ago and they're great. Got 'em for spot. I've got one that took a bullet.
